I really liked this city. I stayed at this hotel in a business trip in Mexico and only stayed one night. However, the hotel service was excellent. I came late at night and had to order room service since the restaurant was closed and that was no problem for the food to be excellent. Hotel is in a very convenient place with a lot of stores very close.

Nice place to stay with reasonable room rates. They have recently made improvments on their bilingual front desk staff. They have wireless internet in the old half of the hotel and if you want it, you have to tell them when you check in. I have stayed here at least 12 times and have never been disappointed. The breakfast buffet is good but a bit overpriced for the area. On the other hand if you only want coffee and a roll, they will charge you less. They have a menu for breakfast but none of the wait staff is bilingual and it gets interesting. Their evening meals are stricktly Mexican food and in not particularly inspired. The restaurant and the bar next door stays open until midnight. They have a beautiful heated pool in the center of the hotel complex and it is quite refreshing. There is parking on the grounds and there is a rent a cop that patrols in the evening. The patrol is not necessary since this is an extremely low crime area. Across the street is a Walmart, a Vips, a Sam's club, a Macdonalds and a movie theatre. A few blocks away are a number of good restaurants. There are Taxi's available at the hotel that work on fixed rates. Overall a very good experience.

Aguascalientes is not much of a tourist town, but it was still a charming place to visit. Americans are not a common sight, but the ones you will find are typically in this hotel. Las Trojes is in the affluent northern suburb, across from a Walmart/Sam's Club shopping nexus. The front desk staff usually speaks English, but the rest of the city is generally not bilingual. The Las Trojes lobby is airy and welcoming. The restaurant offers a very filling breakfast buffet. There is free wireless internet access throughout the hotel. And the suites are large and uniformly clean. However, the rooms are dim (common even in homes here). Fortunately, this is not the case in the well-appointed bathroom (and kudos for the attached magnifying mirror). There is no lift/elevator on the premises, so consider yourself warned if you are disabled or traveling with lots of heavy gear. You can get around well-enough in a rental car, but you will make yourself crazy at first because the maps neglect to show the concentration of one-way roads in downtown Aguascalientes, so it will take the newbie several hours to navigate to the heart of the city. Fortunately, the hotel is on the main north-south route and so we could always find our way back. And if you are fortunate enough to meet Roy, the bell man, you will learn several jokes that your "pull my finger" uncle will appreciate.

The hotel is not near the center of town, not that the center of town is a desirable location. We checked in very late one night and the night clerk insisted on a second form of ID even though my credit card has my photo and printed signature on it. After that, it was off to the room.

The room was small and smelled worn out. The decorations were vintage 80s. It was relatively clean but just felt old. I turned the air conditioning on and was met with a barrage of noises. In actual fact, the background noise helped mask a couple of unusual noises throughout the night. I couldn’t tell if the noises were coming from the next room or from within the walls, but I was thankful that I was exhausted since I didn’t hear them again until I woke up the next morning. However, the mystery noises were still there.

The breakfast buffet was quite good. The omelet was cooked to order and was excellent. The coffee was good and the service was equally good. In fact, after a decent breakfast, the sun shining and check out imminent, it turned out to be a fairly nice stay.

I don’t know if I’d actually recommend this hotel since I don’t know if there are alternatives. Maybe getting the deluxe room as another reviewer mentioned is the way to go.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I made one phone call for about 15 minutes and was charged sixty ($60) USD. Wow.
