“Great service, Nice rooms, close to small, crowded, rocky beach.”

Attended a wedding, nice spot, but there were people walking around while the ceremony was going on. Rooms were nice, but FYI lots of stairs, not condusive to seniors or strollers. Food was ok in the buffets. A la carte was disappointing, especially the Mexican. Could not get in to eat at the Japanese unless you waited in line for a half hour or more before it opened. Could not get a beach chair in the morning unless you were down there before 8am. No room to lay out towels because the beach was too small and filled with chairs. Can't walk along the beach, too rocky. Cant play football or frisbee. Very little shade unless You were up early and put towels on your chair. Swimming area was crowded because of limited space without rocks. Snorkeling area was busy and corral and marine life were a bit beat up in the shallow area. Tennis courts are in need of repair, easy to lose balls. Golf course is expensive and rental clubs were junk. Spa was great. Pools were great. Distance to beach was great. Distance to puerto aventures was great.

“Amazing resort!”

The moment I walked into this resort I knew it was going to be a blast. The staff were super friendly, and will love you even more if you try to speak a bit of spanish. The style of the resort was beautiful and provides you with a nice mexican flare. If you get a chance to visit the creperie (I don't see why you won't have the time), GO! It has many delicious choices that are to die for!
Another advantage is that they give you alacarte vouchers for every night as opposed to other places where you have to book them ahead of time and may only get one or two dinners your entire trip. With these, it is first come first serve (The restaurantes always fill up quick so try and be there a bit earlier) Along with this, remember to bring a couple dressy/casual outfits for those dinners.
The drinks from the bars are in smaller glasses, but honestly, I wouldn't complain because you can get as many as you want whenever you want. And I'm sure you are going to want to remember all the fun you had. Know your limit, drink within it!!
Other items you may want to consider bringing are water shoes, as there is quite a bit of coral (I didn't mind it at all in bare feet), american money for tipping. 50 dollars is good, but keep in mind all the people you will be tipping. I personally would have brought more, but that's just me. And lastly, extra money/credit card for any excursions you may want to attend. Overall, this resort has been the best for me so far and I would recommend it to any family, couple or friends. Way to go Catalonia Yucatan!

Room Tip: -bring water shoes if you have sensitive feet -extra money for tipping and excursions -a couple n...

As this is the sister hotel of the Catalonia Riviera Maya, where we have just spent the last three weeks, arrived home wednesday 8th feb. We would be very dissapointed if we had to stay there, it is in need of a large makeover, all the thatch on the buildings needs to replaced, and the hotel looks a little tired and run down, But to the hotels credited they have just started. If by any chance you are in a outside room, I would want to be moved, some of them just overlook scrub land, and others a access road, where lorries make there early morning deliveries. Facillities are shared with the Riviera Maya, so overcrowding on the beach and in dinning areas, is the norm. Quality of rooms I would not know, as we stayed in the Maya. But I am very glad we did not stay at the Yucatan

“There is no beach!”

We stayed from the 28th january until the 5 th february, we reserved with nolitours the cameleon dor. In a standard room which was just that standard. It was clean but in need of a good paint job and some refreshing in general. There is no fridge in the room, you have to rent a safe for 3$ per day if you want one. Water is also not included which i found pretty funky! You receive 3 bottles on your arrival and you have to go and fill them up at the bar if you want more. There is also no coffee maker. I am told all these ammenities are availible if you upgrade, so its your call. The grounds are very clean, the staff is very accomodating and friendly. The animation is great. But the biggest dissapointment was that there is no beach. I have read comments that you need water shoes ,i personally would equip yourself with some steel toe boots and a helmet. And make the best of it. I would not recomend this hotel to a beach lover by any stretch of the imagination. I was also quite suprised by the amount of rowdy drinkers, hey i know vacation is a vacation but the resort being a very small one it seemed to amplify the partying volume. All in all it was o.k but i wouldnt recommend this hotel if you want to lay on the beach and relax. Many improvements can be made, a coffee maker in the room with some bottled water would be a good start.

Room Tip: Unfortunatley i would recomend an upgrade, unless your into re filling up your own water bottles.

“Be aware of the staff”

We first got to the Catalonia and had booked an ocean front room. We habooked at the Catalonia Riviera Maya, so we we dropped off at that lobby. The oceab front room are located at the sister property next door. We were taken to our room and our Ocean Front room was a bar front room. The onlything we could see from our room was the room of the beach bar. Not what we paid extra for. Took a lot of calls and walks back to the main lobby to get moved a day and a half later.

The trip got better from there. Waitstaff at the pool bar was good. The next part about ruined our trip. We were at the late night snack area having a few drinks. the bar staff was bringing us drinks. They brought special shots. These were the drink syrup and hot sauce. this made most of us sick. They just stood in the coner and tha pointed at us. i could smell the hot sauce so i stopped everyone from drinking them and we left.

Be awar of what they are giving you. this was not the type of resort we thought it was. I will not return/
