We visited Aventuras Club Marina from Nov 22-Nov 28 2011 for our honeymoon. We stayed here after staying a week at Secrets Maroma Beach, and came very last minute on a recommendation from my brother. We asked for availability on the morning of the 22nd, hoping to get in that day.
While the staff said they were booked up for the next week, they did a fantastic job finding us a suite in the building anyways. A beautiful, HUGE 2 bedroom suite.
After staying at Secrets Maroma we thought we might be underwhelmed, but it was quite the opposite. Aventuras Club was the highlight of our 2 week stay in the Riviera Maya.
Food: There are some good restaurants around, 'The Pub' has really good breakfast and lunch. We went to Gringos for dinner and salsa dancing one night too. All food in the restaurants around the marina are great, but everything is on par with Canadian prices.... so compared with cooking/drinking at home in Mexico, it is expensive. Fun nights out when bands are playing though. Just be prepared, it isn't cheap. Great for a special night out though.
Food: We LOVED being able to cook at home at Aventuras Club. Super Chedraui (like Canadian Superstore) is a 20 minute walk away (ask Estella or anyone else in the lobby how to get there), groceries are cheap cheap cheap, and you can cook as good of, if not better, dinners than you can get in restaurants for half the price. You have all the dishes/utilensils etc you need to cook in your room. Liquor is also cheap (CAN $3.50 bottles Malbec and $8.50 26oz. Jose Cuervo).
Rooms: We were blown away by how spacious the accommodations were. Not only was it huge, but decorated in the most gorgeous way. We could have entertained 6-8 people in the suite and still been comfortable. They had everything required; this place was nicer than any 2 bedroom condo downtown in our city. Cleaned beautifully every day. Our favorite part was the patio. We had two beautiful loungers in a separate area on the deck that got lots of sun. We even brought out sheets and slept on them one night. There was a large glass table with a view of the marina that we ate at every morning and every evening... heaven.
Beach: Most amazing beach a 10 minute walk away.... Just bring your drinks, water, towels, and a great day is waiting. Bring snorkel stuff as there are some fish out there.
Pool: BEST pool ever! The pool keeper man was like nothing we have ever seen.... he was SO thorough, and would spend hours cleaning the pool every morning (even though we had only seen 3-4 people enter the pool per day). We had no doubt the pool was spotless. Not only that, it was beautiful. Hanging beds and such. Just amazing.
The only complaint: We loved everything about this place and will probably come back every year. This isn't necessarily the fault of the hotel, but we had a group of 40-55 year olds (probably 10-15 of them) staying next to us and under us that seriously disturbed the last three days of our trip. We are 25-30 year old honeymooners that like to party and drink, but the neighbors acted like 18 year old college spring-breakers on a bender. They were obnoxious and loud (from 8am beer drinking horse play to 1am music playing outside yelling).... Again no fault of the hotel itself as the staff was amazing and attentive. Just wish this was an issue that didn't have to be dealt with. Oh well.
GREAT place though. 10 thumbs up.
Room Tip: Second floor was great
