“Tinners arms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

I love this villiage and this pub and all the people in it. I was married in the church opposite and i would love my wish to come true one day of being able to afford a holiday there soon. Petrol prices are so high now and would cost £100 each way from london. Zennor i dearly miss you. I could sit in theTinners all day just soaking up the atmosphere it is a charming soul soothing little place. Ps Hi Ann, and Sue from Treigerant house b+band all my friends there i miss you all terribly.from Jenny and Mike. I suggest anyone wanting to leave bad comments on here take your bad energy elsewhere as this little plae does not deserve it.

Has all the charm and atmosphere of a dentist's waiting room.We stopped in while walking the coastal path from St Ives to Zennor..first mistake..second mistake was having a teenager with us..instantly banished to the outer reaches of the pub even though we were the only people in there.Service was begrudging at best...never again not even for a glass of water.

“Don't bother - go to the Gurnards Head instead!”

We ate in the 'dining area' of this scruffy old pub. The fresh paint and new chairs are all it has to recommend it. If it's trying to be a gastro pub it has a long way to go. Cheap cutlery, paper table cloths, no heating and scruffy waiters are really not on at the prices they expect you to pay. I had mackerel and salad with chips for £10.50 - mackerel are 2 for £1.00. I was presented with one fish (no plate for bones) a couple of lettuce leaves, one (dried up) slice of cucumber and a quarter (also dried up) of a tomato. My partner had wild mushroom pasta - they were not wild mushrooms and came in a lot of very rich sauce. The 'waiters' were dressed like they had just finished a shift at the local garage and had finger nails to match. Pay the extra for an excellent meal at Gurnards Head.

“Going back in time”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

We came here after a recommendation from the Time Out guide. Lovely peaceful village, felt like we were back in the past. This was helped by the fact that there is no mobile phone signal here, and no TV in the room so we had plenty of peace and quiet. Room very comfortable though a bit cold on arrival, but soon warmed up with radiators on. All appears very newly decorated, lovely farmhouse style kitchen where a tasty and good sized breakfast is served. Not a particularly welcoming place, would have appreciated a bit more conversation and interest from the man who met us and showed us to the room and who also served us breakfast each day. Also needed a reminder to give us milk to have in our room for tea and coffee. We enjoyed our meals in the bar and great to have some games to play.

“Location is all this pub has to offer”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

this pub is trying to be an up market bistro and failing badly. On arrival there is no welcome, The menu is very limited and very over priced, of the 5/6 main courses they had 2 of them i could not eat as they contained cheese (allergic) which obviously means the food is not cooked fresh, and a couple of them had run out, which did not leave alot. I had Seabass as it was the only option left for me, which was served with haggis, black pudding and rocket, which was very dry and tasteless and we had to pay extra for potatoes. The service was unprofessional, unfriendly and quite abrupt at times and paper table cloths at this price is a definite no no....... The restaurant is not cosy its bland and cold and has no ambiance at all. We really resented paying the bill as it was not worth 1/2 what we paid. We wont be going back.
