When traveling to Cuetzalan, I usually sleep at the Villas Cuetzalan hotel, which I have already reviewed for tripadvisor. This time, however, I wanted to save some pesos and give me the chance to check another hotel in the area, so we went to the Posada Cuetzalan.
The biggest advantages of this property is location and price. It is located right at downtown and I paid half the amount I pay at the Villas Cuetzalan --595 pesos (about 55 dollars) for a triple room versus 1350 pesos (about 120 dollars) for a cabana that includes a Continental breakfast and wood for the fireplace.
The price at the Posada is even lower for a double room (510 pesos, about 45 dollars) or a single room (380 pesos, about 32 dollars), tax included. No breakfast included, but the place has a nice restaurant. The only problem at the restaurant are vendors, who enter freely, as in most restaurants in town. We had five of them during breakfast, mostly old people. We did not buy anything, but gave them some coins.
Of course, the room at Posada was smaller than the cabana at Villas Cuetzalan, but considering the price/size ratio it is not that bad, since the room was about about 30% smaller.
We were not in the middle of trees and we did not have a fireplace as in Villas, but it was not that cold in the middle of the summer and my daughter had the chance to see TV (there are no TV sets at Villas). The street below our room was not noisy and everything is steps away. If you come to Cuetzalan by bus, this is an excellent option.
The furniture in Posada is a little old, but everything is clean. We saw more foreigners than locals in the property.
I think the photographs I took can show better how this hotel is a real bargain, especially if you consider that it has a parking lot one block away, has cable TV and two small pools.
