“Poor, poor hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2010

I heard and read of this hotel before we went there, the page offers you a tottally different place!! The page does not mention that the rooms are very dark, the bed clothes are old, stained and smell kind of funny!! For a start the recepcionist lost our reservation, even my parents were already there under the same reservation, we have to pay for the room even it was already payed, but they "didn't know". The air was very noisy, my dad coulnd't sleep!! Some people could thought maybe it was the room or the floor, but no, my parents took a different room in a different floor and it was the same thing!! The bathrooms are amazingly white and you can see all the dirt!! The carpet was stained as well, and they won't give you a remot control for the TV unless you make a 10 dlls deposit (don't know why), in general the whole hotel is very, very dark and the food is...well I wouldn't eat there!!

“Dismal”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2009

Dim, shabby everything: towels, furniture, sheets, carpeting, lighting, service. Public washroom style toilets in cramped bathrooms that smell like open sewers. Unfriendly staff. What's worse and most unconscionable is the hotel's policy that if any of the stingy, threadbare crap they provide is stolen, the cost is deducted from the meager slave-wages (likely less than $5/day) of the poor cleaning staff. A truly crap place with bad attitude and vulgar policies. The evening of the day I checked in I went looking for a hotel that understands cleanliness, decency and customer service, so I only put up with one uncomfortable night at Aristos, prepaid additional nights be damned.

Don't subject yourself to this place, Hotel Aristos stinks literally and figuratively.

“Not worth it/ really shabby”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 May 2009

The hotel looks like it might have been really nice (once upon a time) but it really really needs updating! Actually, they have 2 room types, regular and renovated. We stayed in a regular room which was very dark and had really old furniture and decor (from the 1960's it looked like). The toilet leaked every time you flushed. Parking is extra as well. The staff were very nice though. The day we checked out, we asked to see a renovated room which was like $60 MXP more, and the only differance was that the sink and toilet had been changed. This hotel was really not worth it because later we found other hotels that were the same price and even nicer.

This hotel is nothing too impressive or luxurious... but it's a very decent hotel, very clean, with great service, and a great location. What else could you ask for? The rooms are impeccably clean, the staff is super nice, there are aguas frescas that you can drink by the reception desk while you check in or out, and it's only 2 blocks away from the main square (zócalo). My 2 friends and I stayed in a double room and we paid 530 pesos (around US$35) plus about 60 more pesos each for an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet... seriously, I doubt you can get better than this at this price!!

“Value for Money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2008

We chose this hotel over NH Puebla because of the price. I was part of a student delegation attending an international conference in Puebla, so we were on a budget.

We were sufficiently impressed with the hotel. We arrived in the middle of the night, but received excellent service nonetheless. We were helped with our bags and the check-in process was extremely prompt.

The hotel décor is, as another reviewer mentioned, rather dated, but at this low room rate, I'm not fussed about décor.

The rooms were big and clean. Our room comfortably slept three, and we could've probably fit another person in no problem. Bathrooms were clean too (I'm really fussy when it comes to bathrooms and this hotel had really clean ones).

On Saturday night we were kept awake by music from a live band across the street, but, as they say, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em, so we went to the café across the street for a great supper and AWESOME music. :)

The hotel is located really close to the Zocalo and there are interesting shops and churches to admire along the way. Not really worth it to take a taxi down to the Zocalo, although it won't set you back very much.

Oh another plus is that the hotel has Wi-Fi!
