We have stayed at this hotel 4-5 times in the past 3-4 years. It´s always been a great pleasure. The rooms are not very luxorious, but they are big, comfortable and the size of the TV is very good. No pool. A very nice restaurant with typical mexican and Zacatecas food. The Staff is quite friendly and helpful, although not all of them speak English.
It is located in front of the cathedral and at walking distance of everything that is worthwhile seeing down town.
About Zacatecas: one of the absolute nicest cities in Mexico. A colonial jewel listed as UNESCO´s world heritage cities. The pink stone in which most of downtown is built is just stunning, and the fact that it has a REAL mine that one can visit downtown. A real jewel of a city!

Beautiful hotel, great location. Customer service wasn't the best (I'm used to having great customer service from Mexicans but not this time). I was there in Aug 2009 for a wedding and it would get hot at night and there was no A/C. When we asked how come there was no A/C the staff told us "Zacatecas is cold we don't need A/C..." Ok, so we slept with the windows shut in that dry heat, not very pleasant... (we couldn't sleep with the windows open since our room was leveled with the hotel's courtyard and anyone could get into our room from there if the windows were open) The room was comfy and the bathroom was very clean/ new etc. Another incident with customer service was arriving late after a party they couldn't arrange parking for us (we had to pretty much fight all night with them so they'd take care of the parking for us). I can't complain anymore because I didn't pay for the room, our friends did (It was part of a deal we paid for our tickets and they paid for the hotel) but If I spent $ on this hotel I'd expect to have at least A/C or just a fan something to help us sleep in that unexpected heat. It is a beautiful hotel and it is a small town so you can't expect too much from it tho...

This was our first trip to Zacatecas and we were incredibly impressed. We live in Mexico and found Zacatecas to be one of the most upscale, clean and interesting cities that we have been to. The hotel matches the description above. It is right across the street from the main cathedral and plaza. These was an event at the plaza every day, so we recommend that you resist the temptation of a room overlooking the plaza and book and interior room which overlooks a central courtyard and is much quieter. These was wireless internet service available (not extra fee) throughout the facility. Within a few blocks walking distance to all major sites. You do not need a car here. We arrived by bus which is just a 40 peso taxi ride away. In room coffee and bottled water, but you have to pay for the coffee after the first day.In room mini-bar was locked. Nice toiletries and towels. Buffet breakfast offered in hotel restaurant daily for 120 pesos. When we return, which we will, we will stay here again!

Hotel Emporio is a great value. The rooms are modern, clean, and well equipped with many amenities (coffee maker, hair dryer, iPod player among other things). The location is excellent-in the historic center of town and starting point for most tours of the city and surrounding area.
