“Royal stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2011

Everything about this hotel is amazing, the food is great, the rooms r great n the staff is really friendly. When I got there I was taken aback by the architecture of the hotel, was greeted right away n everything was handled quickly n with care. Once in da room u find amazing beds a flat screen mounted on top of chimney n a great restroom with oversized tub. This hotel has truthfully been one of the best hotels ever. U can't go wrong if u book at this hotel.

“Unique and magical...not perfect but nothing compares”

President Bush II, D. Rockefeller and numerous other VIPs have stayed at the Q.R.Z. It's a magical piece of history, connected to the legendary silver cities of Mexico. It's one of our favorite hotels. Service has fallen over the years, but if you get a good rate and adjust your expectations, you'll enjoy your stay.

I agree with one reviewer with her advice to the managment that service needs to be paid attention to in all aspects of the hotel. From the restaurant to the front desk. Sometimes cleaning house is what it takes and as I've said before good or bad it flows from the top down. Perhaps ownership needs to fire the GM and bring the hotel back to life. It could be magnificient as in the late 1990s.

I'll always love QRZ, but hope the ownership makes the necessary changes to draw in guests. It's pointless to go on about every detail that needs fixing.

“THANK YOU!! GRACIAS POR TODO!!”

First, I would like to thank Paola for making our wedding picture perfect. Being that my wife and myself would spend summers in Mexico as kids and we would visit Zacatecas quite often we decided to have our wedding at the Quinta Real Zacatecas. From the moment I contacted them to the day after the wedding they were very professional. I do not have 1 bad thing to say about the Quinta Real. The food was great the staff was friendly and the rooms were superb. For all of the people that are afraid to travel to Mexico, do not believe the hype. We did not feel threatened one bit. Go visit this beautiful hotel and city, you wont regret it. Muchas gracias Paola y Erica. Todo quedo perfecto!! Saludos desde Chicago!

“A Unique and Delightful Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2010

We booked this hotel for the fun of staying in a hotel built in an old bull fighting arena, and were not disappointed. The conversion to a hotel was beautifully done; wonderful views from every angle; interesting terraced restaurant; beautiful art and finishes. We were happily surprized to find that this was accompanied with charming and efficient service, really comfortable and quiet rooms, excellent beds, etc. Combined with the location - an easy walk to the colonial core of Zacatecas, it was a wonderful stay.

“Beautiful hotel but restaurant has bad service & very disappointing food.”

My husband and I and another couple opted to stay at the old Emporio Hotel in the historic section of Zacatecas so we could easily walk to the museums, etc. We made reservations at the restaurant at the Quinta Real, as we wanted to see the wonderfully interesting architecture of the building. At 8 PM the only person in the lobby was someone sweeping the floor. No one at reception desk, etc. He directed us to the restaurant. The hostess was gracious and the view of the former bull ring and the spire of the church in the background beautiful. The waiter was surly. A bad start. The rolls arrived and were cold, a sure sign of having been frozen. This was a signal to us to use caution in what we ordered for dinner. Two Caesar salads were ordered. The romaine lettuce leaves were the outside ones and old and the anchovies looked like they were alive - they were actually curled! Old. The salmon was swimming in butter. The spaghetti tasted and looked like it had come out of a can. The bill was brought to one of the wives. I asked the waiter to please give the bill to my husband. He handed it back to me. Bad idea. I speak Spanish so this was not a language problem. We didn't order dessert. If rolls can't be warm and the meal substandard - how good could the dessert be? As we exited through the lobby - five people were standing around a ladder. We went back into town and had a delicious Italian dinner.

Management needs to pay attention to not only the restaurant, but to hotel services. Glad we didn't stay there. Happy we stayed at the Emporio. I recommend the Quinta Real for a visit to the bar. Hopefully it's impossible to ruin a drink there.
