“good hotel to stay and great location without paying near or over $100”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 February 2011

Stayed here two nights few days ago and this is our second stay overall (last yr stayed for 3 days). This was en route to visit the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuaries. This hotel is excellent without paying near the $100 mark ad within the heart of the Historic Center of Morelia. The staff are professional (the Best Westerns in the US do not have bellboys, door opener, restaurants, etc...) They also arranged for our Taxi to the airport at 4am flawlessly.

There was only two hiccups with the stay. 1) the two receptionist initially could NOT find my reservation which I had given them a printed copy of my reservation made directly through Best Western's web site. Then when they finally handed me the bill to sign, I noticed that the price was 10-15$ more than what my initial reservation was. The manager then standing behind these two less experienced ladies ironed out the problem.

2) there is currently a major construction in front of the reception area (drilling, hammering etc...) which the receptionist had mentioned will go on until 9pm! They gave us a room on the third floor and the rooms had very excellent sound insulation.

Overall, a great place to stay and walking distance to all main attraction of historic Morelia without spending near $100. The rooms are huge and high ceiling (ours was in front of the Cathedral-this might bother people due to the bell ringing every 30mins and top of the hour-but we missed this!). Wifi was included too.

A very good choise. A lot cheaper then the other hotels of the same standardsninthe area. Very friendly staff (no english), location can't be better, spacious rooms with all amenities you expect and confortable beds. The food in the hotels restaurant is really good(i noticed that alos locals eat there). Make sure to get a room at the indoor patio. Rooms at the plaza have great views but can bet hot and noisy

“Beautiful hotel in very good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2010

Passing through Morelia we chose the Casino for its location on the zocalo, and for being a Best Western. We weren't disappointed except for the noise. I had wanted to get rooms towards the back but finished up directly above the busy street and zocalo in front of the hotel. So the sleep quality wasn't all that great. However, we enjoyed the stay regardless. And the service was quite outstanding. The bellhops moved all our luggage out of the two vehicles and into the hotel, and then took the vehicles to the parking garage a few blocks away. There was no charge for this service.

“Best value in downtown Morelia”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 March 2010

After checking out stupidly overpriced Juaninos and a few others, we wound up talking to the people at the Best Western who not only were super friendly but very flexible in giving us our choice of rooms. we chose a balcony room facing the plaza which was great. The price was literally HALF of the other places. Granted, its a very old building (like 200 years old), so it has its quirks - smells a bit musty, for one. But when you add it up, this place was a WAY better deal than the alternatives.

I do have to say that in the morning, the traffic smell pervaded the room even though the balcony door was closed. So dont get one of those rooms if you plan on sleeping in.

“Don't ask for a room facing the plaza”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2010

This is a nice hotel with friendly front desk staff. The first night we had a room facing the plaza. It is unbelievable noisy since there is a four lane street surrounding the plaza. We switched to a back room the second night and that was fine. Some of the front office people speak english. Breakfast is not included and I thought it was expensive and not so good. Go nextdoor to Cafe Catedral, it's better and cheaper.
