We returned to Cabo Azul recently and were fortunate to stay in one of the magnificent ocean view penthouses in celebration of my husband's birthday and to accommodate two groups of friends during the week. Each guest was stunned by the accommodations upon entering and each of us was saddened when it was time to leave. Every moment and interaction at the resort was superb, from the rooms, to the magnetic balcony (where I am entranced by the sound of the crashing waves), the impeccable grounds, the fantastic spa and fitness center, Flor de Noche (Javier's was undergoing renovation) and the golden beach - honestly the sand has a magical glitter to it. The proximity of San Jose del Cabo and Mega Mercado (we loved the handmade tortillas) are a plus, although it's only a short distance to Cabo San Lucas for those that wish to enjoy classic activities of the region, such as parasailing and cruises. Our concierge Paola assisted us with every detail and without exception every member of the staff greeted us and saw to our needs with genuine smiles and attention to the smallest request. On this occasion we enjoyed highlights both new and old. Cabo Wabo and the Hard Rock Cafe are required stops for my husband, the drummer. This year he fulfilled his wish to fly with a parasailing experience arranged by Paola (for an excellent price) and I braved my fears while photographing him soaring over The Arch. Tropicat, also booked through Paola, was such a convivial experience. We roamed the Mercado while waiting to board and the two hour cruise was fantastic. Nice wine, piped jazz, good hors d'ouevres were elevated by the crew who made us feel that they celebrated our presence and truly wanted us to have the finest experience possible, particularly stopping the boat for excellent photo ops and the gift of a few surprising whale sightings.
