We had friends over recently and they asked my kids their best vacation ever. They all immediately said Cabo. To my family Cabo means Villas Del Mar. We have stayed in different villas in the community a few times. It is not the Palmilla Hotel, it is a community of luxury homes in the Palmilla community. The experience has been top notch each time. The homes are incredible beautiful and well appointed. Most have beautiful pools with with incredible views and cabanas in the yard and golf carts were provided to get around the area. We woke up each morning to our breakfast chef making coffee and breakfast in the kitchen of our beautiful home. We had our chef come back in a few evenings to make dinners that was as good or better than the incredible restaurants you can get to by golf cart from the residence. Club 96 which is the private club available to Villas Del Mar owners and guests is incredible. The have a health club, lap pool, and other beautiful pool overlooking the ocean, and a full service restaurant. The service at the club was superb. A very attentive staff was always available to meet or exceed any request. I arranged a dinner for our family right at the edge of the beach that was spectacular. Just the mention of a cigar after dinner and I was presented an array of option from the humidor. While lounging in the club pool I asked about sea kayaks and 5 minutes later I was in the ocean on a sea kayak. If you'd rather hang out at the house, most homes have pools with beautiful views. We do travel to other destinations, but when we go to Cabo, we love Villas Del Mar.

Just to second the below reviewer. I have stayed at both Palmilla and Villas Del Mar. Villas del Mar is a collection of homes built around Palmilla, it also has a private club and restaurant for owners/guests. Although the Palmilla in itself is very luxurious and I would rate it at 5 stars, Villas Del Mar, in comparison, would deserve 10 stars as it is that much better that Palmilla, it really is an extraordinary place. Each villa comes with its own world class chef, a butler and maid service, private pool and hot tob, as well as many other amentities that are unique to each villa.

I am just writing this to clarify that Villas Del Mar is a development of homes around Palmilla, but it is definitely not part of the hotel. It is MUCH nicer. The other reviews seem to be about Palmilla and not Villas Del Mar. www.villasdelmar.com

The Palmilla is a pure class and sophistication. Got here mid week and was just in awe the whole duration of my stay (a week). This place is so romantic and is an object of envy to those who can't afford to stay here, as the legend goes. I found the beds very comfortable and the rooms nicely decorated. The hotel is set on one of the most breath-taking bays along the Baja coastal strip, sits atop Punta Palmilla, it's namesake. The property is said to span an impressive 900 acres total and offers a wide variety of activities to keep one busy no matter the length of the stay. I was impressed with the hotel's eye for detail and meticulous service which was both courteous and discreet; a real Godsend, as some hotels don't hire employees for their civility and appreciation for guest's privacy. The decor is Mexican elegance and simplicity as its finest with framed embroideries and carved masks of wood which adorn nearly all the walls throughout. The white hand-painted tiles and hand carved artifacts lend a unique quality to the surroundings. I had the good fortune to stay in one of the suites which was very quiet and featured a red-tiled patio, arches, and white wrought iron furniture. What was interesting was that my room had no phone nor television, bring your cell phone; this adds to the quiet and slightly mysterious air of the place which defines Mexican gentility that this place is famous for. You can rent any number of water toys and or lay out on the private beach. This place would be ideal for honeymooners. All in all, a marvelous experience, one that I will repeat in the future.
