Ok, so right off the start let me say that after reading soooooo many bad reviews about this resort I was worried about staying there, but it was booked and paid for so there was nothing I could do to change it. I guess its true, dont believe everything you read.
We booked this trip through AirCanada, a Rep was there as soon as we stepped out of the airport to meet and take us to the bus for the Solaris during the ride to resort the AirCanada Rep warned us about all the timeshare people, told us about the area and said if we needed anything to come talk to them at the AC booth in the hotel lobby.
This is our 4th trip to Mexico, and I have to say this was the fastest, stressfree check in that we have ever had, no hassles.....braclets on right away, we took our own bags to our room we didnt wait for the bellboy to bring them. Total check in time maybe 5 mins.
Not once in the 2 weeks we were there did a timeshare person approach or hassel us.
Our first room was on the 5th floor(the floors are confusing though)and was a part oceanview, but it also looked into the backside/cement wall of the other hotel......the one thing I do like on my ocean holiday is a good view plus our friends were on the other side of the resort and I wanted to be closer. I went to the desk and asked to move rooms, it was not a problem all I did the next morning was go down to the desk and ask to be moved. We were moved to room 136 ground floor, great view and a king bed the only problem after a 5 days was I couldnt stand the sewer smell coming from the bathroom once again I go to the desk tell them the issue about the smell and we are moved to room 322, there was never a hassle from the front desk about moving rooms, I really appreciated this, because I can be very picky about my hotel room.
The food was resort food....not bad....not great, but there was always lots to chose from at the nightly buffet (mexican night was the best) the part I really did not like was the long tables, it reminded me a high school cafeteria. The nightly shows in my opinion were not worth watching.
The breakfast buffet was very good lots of choices, ask for bacon if you would like it. Martin was very nice and took care of all our needs. The view while eating is wonderful, sit outside if there is room. The drinks were ok, if you wanted more liquor all you had to do was ask.
The snack bar by the pool was good, just watch that your hamburger is cooked if thats what you choose to eat, we liked to get a plate of snacks from here and take it to our spot on the beach, Jorge always made sure our drinks were full.
We ate at Marco Polo one night, the food was ok but we didnt go back again.
Yes, the beds are hard, treat yourself to a massage. Yes, the pillows are hard, but there is 5 on the bed pick the one you like best. The fridge was stocked every day and the room was always very well cleaned.
The Solaris grounds are beautiful, are are impeccably looked after from the rooms, the lobby, the pool and all the eating area's very clean and well maintained.
I would defiantly stay at this resort again.
