My husband and I just returned from spending one week at Las Mananitas. This was our fifth trip to Cabo, but the first time staying at a condo. Previously we have stayed at some of the most highly regarded/rated resorts in the area and I was concerned about how we would enjoy Las Mananitas. Well, it was lovely and there was no cause for concern, at all. We stayed in a unit that other reviewers have visited, it was fully equipped with everything that one might need for a restful and relaxing vacation (with the exception of a juicer that would have been appreciated to juice all the fresh fruit found in the markets!). There were plenty of towels, toiletries, kitchen utensils, even some spices and such (though the maid cleaned the fridge out of the bottled water and a few other items the previous tenants had left for us). There were even beach chairs which we used to sit on the sand as the resort doesn't have a supply for use (at least not that we saw). The property, as others have noted, is extremely quiet, which was wonderful. Actually, the entire town seemed more quiet than usual, I don't know if it was because of the economy or stories of Mexican violence (which we saw no evidence of). The shops were mostly empty and this was the first time that we did not find restaurant reservations necessary, even at the top tables. A couple of our favorite restaurants had closed, and that was sad. It seems as if the town of San Jose is struggling, there were many shops and a couple of restaurants for sale or rent. That said, we had a very nice trip, and would not hesitate to stay at Las Mananitas again. The only couple of caveats we had was that it wasn't warm enough to swim in the pool too much (this past week in January was colder than usual), and the activites center, as well as the property concierge was not as helpful as we would have liked (i.e., they were unfamiliar with restaurants, excursions, and spa treatments we asked about). We hope to return soon.
