First of all, if you are looking for all-inclusive, this is not the place for you, as there is no restaurant or bar service on the premises. We have stayed at many places throughout Mexico, but none of them have been as beautiful as Las Mananitas. We stayed in a 3-bedroom (3503) that had incredible views from every room.....miss it already! The rooms were large and the beds were very comfortable. The pools were wonderful as well. There is a swim up bar in all of the pools, with icemakers, sinks, and refrigerators so that you can bring your own food/drink and have a pool party. The Mega store is a few minutes walk up the street if you want to buy groceries and wagons are provided to tote them back. The staff at Las Mananitas are very friendly and helpful. Nice indoor gym, putting green by one of the pools, and outdoor tennis/basketball court.....rackets and balls provided. The location is great. On the beach, close to town, the bus stops right in front (7 pesos to go into the center of town).
Restaurants are much more expensive in the Cabo area than other parts of Mexico. We went to Zippers down the road, nice view, but not impressed with the food. Ate in Cabo and then at a few local taquerias. The best meal we had was at "The Container" located at the new marina in San Jose del Cabo. My husband and son caught some tuna and dorado earlier in the day and brought it to the restaurant. The tuna was prepared as sashimi and the dorado 2 different ways (garlic and italian with olives). At $6 a plate, my only regret was that they didn't catch the fish earlier in the trip for us to eat there almost every night! A superb dinner and several drinks for 5 was under $70!!!
As for adventures, we did the Oceanus Minisub Dive tour, Baja's ATV tour (2-1/2 hours was really about 4 hours of fun) and the Costa Azul zipline and rappel. Lots of fun, we would recommend all of them.
Cabo is full of mega resorts where you are trapped in compounds. The town is full of bars, restaurants and tourists......if you are in your 20's and like to party all the time, this is the place for you. San Jose is a quieter location for those who have already seen all the touristy stuff. As I mentioned earlier, we have been all over Mexico and were happy with our decision to stay in San Jose del Cabo. If we ever go back to the area, we would definately stay at Las Mananitas.
