Recently spent a brief stay at the Casa Dorado. The hotel is beautiful and service is top-notch. We had a one bedroom suite which was huge and nicely appointed, and we found a heck of a deal for it online. Unfortunately, it was on the end of the hotel towards the marina, right above Mango Deck World, which is an obnoxious turista bar (OK, so are 90% of Cabo's bars) so you get late noise and then early clean-up. Request a room at the other end and you'll be fine. The restaurants are so-so. Much better places elsewhere in town. The hotel's stretch of beach is small but very nice. You can arrange any extra-curricular activities from your deck chair. And the pool is marvelous.

Any negative review about the timeshare experience here is true. They could care less about you from GBS, the company that manages the time share bookings at the hotel, to the hotel itself. GBS has got to hold the world record for the poorest customer service ever. Their favorite word is "NO", their favorite attitude is "I could care less", no matter how irrational what they are sahying is. You have a problem? TOO BAD! It won't get resolved. I have had this expereince time and time again. Over and over again. The only redeeming quality is the location. The hotel was build with such shoddy craftsmanship (if any at all) that it's falling apart. The fixtures are cheap, the pool was falling apart the last time I was there. And it was jut built in 2005! The food is awful at the pool - heavy, greasy. Fresh fruit is a small fortune. If nothing else, you'll enjoy the location, but they are SO NOT a 4 or 5 star hotel. Far from it.

This is a very excellent property, on Medano Beach, close to bars, restaurants, and tour activities. I agree with most of the coments on food -- expensive, good not great. The hotel cannot reject guests, so you get a lot of immature adults of all ages. The staff is friendly and anxious to serve. I wish they would have warned us on the hotel's ATM -- outrageous service fees. They take AmEx at the hotel, but very few restaurants or tour activities do. You need other credit cards and/or cash, since some of the smaller shops do not take any credit cards. The hotel should either advance you some cash against your room's bill or at least direct you to the bank ATM's which have reasonable fees.

Just returned from a week at Casa Dorada that I'd purchased for a good rate through Luxury Link. I had high expectations for a relaxing, peaceful, calm week after the holidays and some family illnesses.

The bad: The ONLY time there is quiet atT this resort is 9-10:30 am , when the time share salesmen are showing the property as an enticement to property owners.

The music is blasted by the pool starting at 10:30-- mexican, electronica, rock, disco etc. Our requests to at least turn down the music a few decibels were consistently ignored.

The resort faces the beach where there are two bars/restaurants with competing loud music! Thus if you are in your room you will be hearing 3 different music venues competing for your attention.

This is not a resort to bring your own audiobooks or iPod music as the mix of music to compete for your ear is overwhelming. The music seems to grow in loudness about 3-4 pm , just when you might be attempting to take a nap.

The good: the rooms are nice,and clean, grounds are manicured, the best guacamole in town ( rest of meals were mediocre) and the staff is attentive.

The resort is in the hub of all the new and very good (and spendy) restuarants.

I would love to return to this resort, but since I'm no longer 19 years old looking for a spring break atmosphere, this is simply not the place to come for a relaxing vacation if music at volume 10 is not your idea of a great vacation.

Sadly, since day2,'I've been saying I can hardly wait to go home.
