“LOVED IT”

Just returned from a week at the Riu Palace (feb 2-9) and we loved it.
All a la carte restaurants were great and except for the Krystal it was easy to get reservations. For Krystal you have to make it for the same day but we had no problem getting it for the day we wanted.
Everybody says it was exceptally clean and I would not dispute this.CLEAN CLEAN every day and everything. We loved where our room was situated we were in room 1123. Just a short walk to everything Lobby,Beach,Pools, and all restaurants. We only had to walk over the bridge.
The view from this hotel is fanastic Great view of Lands End and always a cruise ship in the cove.
The beach is beautiful to look at but very cold at this time of year for dipping your feet in. The sand is mostly shell so take a pair of beach shoes.
It's also very safe to take the bus into San Lucas. We went in 3 times and loved it. lots to see and do.
If you are real coffee drinkers I suggest you take your own cream and coffee. The coffee, no matter how it looks is always just warm not to our liking so we just made our own in our room.
Service and staff are the best I have ever seen. They will get anything you need with a smile on their face. They even insist on carrying your meal from the buffet restaurant to your table. I found the Red and White Wine very good. Also all drinks made with lots of care.
The shows at night were pretty good, (but we've been to Cuba and no one can top their entertainment)
All in All we just loved this resort. If you need any further information feel free to email me garyandconnie@primus.ca

“Wish we could have stayed longer...”

My husband and I just returned from the Riu - Feb 3-11,2012
Althought our intention and reason for trip was for scuba diving and due to an unfortunate first dive issue with blown ear drum ( doctor care on site) from an unexpected currant pull, and faulty mask. The trip was nowhere a complete loss... In fact the only down fall was not being able to spend more time with some new friends we met at the end of the trip and new friends not staying at the same resort..

Did whale watching excursion.. fun wow! and also did 4x4 .. took the side by side Honda Big red (they call them Rhino's) instead of the two-up quad runners.. needed the back support and bracing , it was also great to be able to sit beside eachother and talk as we experience the great adventure.. this is a must try.. for all ages..

Ok.. but before I rate everything -- I have to tell you the Rui Palaces version of clean.. not only are they always changing out any chipped tiles or pottery..

My husband returned to the table one day from the buffet laughing so hard his face probably still hurts.. It goes like this... Honey, you know how clean this place is right? yes! well I just followed a girl away from the buffet and I watched as an olive fell off her plate and hit the floor..ok? him still laughing... well.. the cleaning staff had it scooped up before it stopped rolling!
Now that's clean!

Food excellent! no matter where you ate. Rooms clean and bed was comfortable as long as you stayed on one side or the other ( we had two doubles pushed together) , pools clean, staff very very helpful and friendly. Entertainment was excellent everytime..

I would have to say the only thing that we didn't care for was that even when you didn't post the clean the room sign on the door , they would still barge in.. light knock and you had better stop what your doing or cover up.. they came in.. and the other thing was we never worried about leaving stuff out, although we did use the safe all the time for valuables.. but it seemed that they didn't think we would notice that our Isagenix protein bars we took down with us for after diving snacks kept missing (everyday one bar gone) even after we put five dollars on our bed everyday.

oh and other pet peeve... was that you could only book the Krytal Restaurant the day of, and if you didn't go at six thirty in the morning.. good luck..Glad I got up early.. twice!

Other than that I would have to say you can read all the good things from other reviews...

Room Tip: One side is quieter ... ask which side for your choice...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, except for one very important service which is lacking................COFFEE. surely,we put a man on the moon 50 years ago, you can have prper coffee service. suggest you purchase the equipment and a blond roast coffee and brew coffee accordingly. Its not rocket science. There are times of day for espresso based or dark roast and then there are occasions like breakfast for blonde roast coffee. coming from Canada and speaking for my american neighbors, the majority of us prefer cream in our coffee not milk, leche. Cream, half and half was sold at thre walmart up the road.
Hate to be ranting about this but you offer every other premium service but this one. I would like to include my email so you can let me know this is going to be addressed, I am returning to your area in.the next 3 months and this will make the difference of me staying with you or renting a condo and bring my own equipment and coffee.

For all that are reading this food, service are excellent, stayed in a suite with a great view.

Thank you mannoman123@hotmail.com

If you are traveler you will know what i mean by this. If you go there to get drunk by pool/bar and indulge food till you pass out u will LOVE THIS PLACE!
I was there for a week with my fiance and it was barely OK! ...Comport of beds one to 10 is (4) hard and air conditioning does not work. Im very surprised since the place is built in 2007, that its coming down fast. The town is beautiful but the resort i gotta say look for better for the same price even less. I would stay here again for the half price and prices as 3 star hotel..
Food is THE SAME!!! restaurants are joke is like bringing food from buffet just in nicer plates.
I am not a burger person and i always eat healthy and last resort was burger which turns out to be only good tasting food to eat. Pasta had no taste what so ever. Food over all disappointing/. We ate in town 2 times to avoid food in resort. The shows ARE GREAT. Very very Entertaining and people that work there really try to do their best and People please tip them. They really deserve it. So there it is GO THERE FOR PRICE OF 3 star HOTEL nothing more.

Room Tip: We were lucky by garden view, steps to pool. but if you on 2 or thirt floor count on 50-75 steps to...

“Without the efforts of the waiters, servers, bartenders, and entertainers the beauty of Riu and Cabo is TARNISHED!”

This was my first trip to Cabo and I was left amazed by it's beautiful views. I believe the Riu Palace has one of the best views of the famous landmark of Los Cabos. The premices of the hotel itself are very well maintened and very clean all around the pool areas. One thing I can definitely identify with other travelers that stayed here is that the staff is very courteous and polite, with the exception of a few servers that were in a hurry to get all the condements like salt and pepper and sugar off the table, when breakfast was close to closing time, even though my now fiance and I were still finishing up our meal.
**** Having traveled to a few destinations in Mexico, Cabo was no comparison because it stood out in many ways. However, for all the 4 and 5 star reviews on here I can not agree that my stay there was all that great. For the money paid and the expectations set for a resort built in 2007 with "5 stars" I expected a lot more comfort IN MY OWN ROOM. First off, the room we reserved was listed as having a KING BED, well sad to say a KING BED in Riu standards seems to be two full sized beds tied by their legs to not move and create a spacious "king" bed fascade. By combining two beds, a VERY uncomfortable 2-3inch gap was created during our sleep making it a real challenge to be able to cuddle and snuggle with your loved one. Well, that is the whole point of going on vacation with your significant other. I woke up with cramps and stiffness in my back every single morning. On that note, two night stands came to accompany the nightmare bed, and to no surprise at this point with only one outlet to charge your phone or camera or whatever else a traveler may need on their trip to stay in touch with family back home, or capture countless memories of the beauty of Los Cabos. There was only one outlet in the bathroom as well, which was also a bummer. Not to mention, someone had set the radio alarm clock to 2:30 AM with static like noise and we jumped to our feet in the middle of the night trying to turn it off. There were a couple of mornings around 9 o'clock that some man just knocked twice on our door and hurled inside screaming "HOLA!!!!" and staying in our doorway, waiting for me to say "Can you please come back later?" We were still sleeping for God's sake, some people getup early, but caught in my busy schedule back in the states, I like to catch up on sleep and RELAX on my vacations that I paid for and took time off of work to go to. On our second night, we were NOT able to get into OUR SAFE in the room WITH ALL OF OUR VALUABLES including our travel documents. I called reception to send someone to fix it, which they did- a man came and tried for 2 min to fix it and said he can't if maybe they can send someone tomorrow. Um...NO, I can not wait to find out if my valuables are safe and I need to make sure this safe was not tampered with. I politely requested a manager or someone else to come and try to resolve this issue. 3min later I get a call into our room from whoever was in charge that night asking "What's the problem?", so I had to repeat everything again and the man from the reception was VERY RUDE WITH ANNOYED TONE OF VOICE , saying they will send someone in the morning (it was 9:15pm). I said I can not wait until the morning to find out if my valuables are safe and I need this problem fixed NOW, because I read in previous reviews there were problems with the safes as well. I found it offensive to be talked to this way from the representative of the hotel and wait 20 min after that for them to show up with a different lock and key and fix the problem in less than 3 min!!!!
The food of the hotel was not all that great. Their food in the Mexican and Steak house restaurants kept repeating with was already available in the buffets every single day of our 7 day trip. That got kind of boring and unappealing towards the end of our trip.
The only reason why this hotel is getting my 3 star review instead of a 1 or 2 stars is because of their polite servers and GREAT ENTERTAINMENT TEAM, THEY TRULY SAVED A GOOD AMOUNT OF DECENT IMPRESSION FOR RIU PALACE. Without the efforts of the waiters, servers, bartenders, and entertainers the beauty of Riu and Cabo is TARNISHED!
The dancers of the shows were very skilled, and what left us speechless in particular was the EXCELLENT show and presentation of the Michael Jackson show! We felt as we were looking at the real Michael Jackson on the stage in front of us. The shows with the guests involved were very funny and enjoyable as well.
***VERY IMPORTANT***
DO NOT BOOK ANY ACTIVITIES AT THIS HOTEL!!!! They are such a BIG RIP OFF! Apperantly, since all inclusive trips are already paid for, the hotel tries to make money off of the booked activities. For a glassbottom boat trip to Lover's Beach with snorkeling we paid $120! Later on that night we went into the SAFE downtown of Cabo and were offered the same deal for two for 70!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Interested to compare more,we just kept asking about the pricing of the other activities without saying how much we were offered at the hotel and believe me, the difference was TRIPLE. Go and see a booking stand in town and BARGAIN for EVERYTHING because for the price of one activity you could be going on 3!I believe everyone likes to save money! :)
With that said, I am not really sure at this point if I would return to Riu Palace again. Will I return to Cabo? Sure. But the not swimming in the ocean was a real bummer!

Room Tip: I am very disappointed with our room, so my only tip is please ask if you are getting a real KING SI...
