Just came back from 6 days at The Mexican Inn. I liked this little B&B a lot - excellent location on the safe and quiet residential street a couple of blocks from the marina. There are only a handful of rooms in this hotel, and instead of numbers they have female names assigned to each of the rooms. The rooms are very nice, small but very clean and comfortable with tiled floors, antique-looking furniture, and even a nice canopy above the bed. There is AC with remote, TV/DVD sans cable service, but office is stocked with good selection of DVDs - not that you would go to Cabo to watch movies...The Marina and the clubs are only 2 blocks away, and it is equidistant to El Squid Roe and Cabo Wabo - about 3 min walk. There is a courtyard with lush tropical plants, a fountain, and a palapa with a few tables for morning breakfast. The courtyard has a metal gate which gets locked at 10PM, but they give you a key, so you can come and go as you please. There is no night guard - none are needed. The breakfast is excellent - fruit salad with fresh juices, coffee, pastries, toast, and homemade jam to start your day right. Staff consisted of one young lady - Julia, who was very helpful and friendly. I only saw 3 other guests during my stay, and sometimes even locals had no idea where this hotel was. The ones that did know the hotel or its predecessor, Chili Pepper Inn, gave me big smiles.
There is one thing I should mention: I was signed up for a timeshare presentation as soon as I arrived at the airport. Even though it's a waste of time to most people, and an annoyance to some who cannot stand strong sales pressure, in my case it was worth it. I was planning to do 2 days of local scuba diving, Cabo Pulmo trip w/ 2 tank dives, and a long ATV tour to Candelaria/Migrino, and time share place gave me HUGE discounts on all these activities. As it turns out, the guy that signed me up at the airport was new and did not know that The Mexican Inn was NOT one of the hotels whose guests qualify for time share pitch. Timeshare people did hold their end of the bargain, but they had to switch me to a VIP program and I even got 1 week of use of all of their amenities w/o buying a thing.
