“Low Maintenance Luxury”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We stayed here during the last week in January, 2012 while attending conference. We really felt like we had the place to ourselves and the service was flat out amazing - I don't know if this was due to the time of year or if it is always this way, or a little of both. Here are comments based upon past reviews:

Social Scene = if you are counting on your resort and/or its location to provide a stimulating party atmosphere - this is not your place and you should stick with the Apple, Sandals type places or stay in downtown Cabo San Lucas. This is a great place for people who are busy or already have an exciting life back home and want to unplug and relax.

Distance to Cabo = It cost us $20 divided between 3 couples to take a 20:00 shuttle to the marina area of Cabo for a night of shopping, drinks and dinner (Hacienda for great cocktails on the beach. Edith's for decent dinner. We had a good and fun meal but why would you want to go to a steak joint here when they have some of the best/fresh seafood and mexican specialties that you may not be able to get back home?) If you live in a decent sized city the commute is down right cheap and convenient. I don't get the complaints about the distance or cost. FYI - the roads in this area are now in great condition so if you do not drink and wish to drive around, you can rent a car at the resort.

Food = the $25 breakfast buffet is a great bargain and the food and cocktails are top notch. The restaurant at the beach served the best fish tacos I have ever had - Sea Bass for the fish definitely helped. Try the local beer - Pacifico - very good. Also, try the Baja wines - the Syrah/Shirazz options were comparable to good Australian wines of same varietal and a good value.

Beach = I snorkeled 3 days and saw great fish. I suggest low tide for more options. It was absolutely protected from the rough waters and very safe. Further, walk down the beach in front of the private villa for sand at whales beach. Plan on swimming in the beautiful pools with occasional dips in the sea.

Whales = constantly saw Gray whales leaping out of the water at all times of the day.

Rooms = they stuck us in a low room that was near the kids club, smelled of cigarettes and had an ash tray - could smell someone smoking on balcony. We called the front desk and received an immediate upgrade to the 5th floor non smoking on the other end of the resort - loved the room and balcony. This section was called Fiesta Rewards Great bathroom and king bed. MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR 5TH FLOOR AND NON SMOKING.

Time Shares = we never were approached even one time about time share sales.

Pools = top notch and multiple options. Unlimited high end towels for the padded lounge chairs at the pool and on the beach. Great food and drink service on beach. Can also bring your own water, snacks or beers if you are discreet about it.

Grounds = beautiful flowers, trees, and amazingly clean. The workers flat out hustled and were so nice.

Golf Course = I have played a selection of sea side courses around the world and the Ocean Course here stacks up with most of them. Don't be alarmed by the list prices for T-times. If you call the pro shop in the off season periods, you will learn that they will cut the prices in order to get play. Also, cheaper after 1 pm. Everyone I spoke to said the Desert course there was fantastic.

Final Assessment = this is a great place to hide away and relax for 3-5 days. The wonderful service, beautiful scenery, great food and attractive pools/seaside location make this a special place to recharge your battery. If you want more of an adventure vacation or a party scene, choose a different spot.

Room Tip: Rooms = they stuck us in a low room that was near the kids club, smelled of cigarettes and had an as...

“Wonderful for couples”

All rooms/villas have ocean view. And very beautiful rooms at that. Expansive property up and down hills. Quiet location. Beautiful pools. No sandy beach. Costs a little to take round trip van into town and the van stops early in the evening. You can lay around the pool, on the beach, or play golf. Spa is very beautiful. Not much around to do. Breakfast buffet was very good. I'd suggest renting a car if you're up for it. I personally would not drive in Mexico! Romantic. Swim up bar great. Fire pit at night really nice.

Room Tip: Get a 1 bedroom with living room and full kitchen even if there's just 2 of you.

“Boring and isolated”

If you like laying around the pool all day and having nothing to do at night, this is your place.
My husband and I would like to have things to do and at least a bar with a piano player or guitarist. This place has nothing. They roll up the sidewalks after it gets dark. You have to get on a shuttle or get a taxi which both costs to go into Cabo. The english tv channels are slim pickings. CNN world, E and HBO.
There isn't anything next to it and it is way back from the main road.
Don't get me wrong the place is beauitful. Restaurants are okay. Pool food was the best.

“Simply Amazing”

Just got back from my trip to Cabo and wish I didn't have to leave.
Staying at the Fiesta Americana was amazing. The moment you walk into the lobby I was floored by the unbelievable view. The Sea of Cortez and the expansive property was breathtaking.
Check-in was a breeze. No problems with a language barrier. And everyone from the people at the desk, the bellhops and the gentleman driving us to our room (via golf cart - nice touch) were extremely friendly and helpful.
My stay only got better from there. The people at the concierge desk (Karina and David) were there to help every step of the way. And Vinny from the vacation club made things even better. It was great to get the perspective from a local of Cabo, but one who grew up in New York (just like me). He really gave some incredible tips (both on and off site) that made this trip for me and my girlfriend one we will never forget. Having him tell us all the local spots to eat and have fun took all the guess work out of our days and made everything go so smooth. I've been all over the world, but never experienced food like the places Vinny sent us to. Blue Fish is a must for sushi lovers. Better than Japan! And if you are willing to spend a bit of money, El Farallon was one of the single best dinning experiences of my life.
I wouldn't have done or found half the amazing things I experienced on this trip if not for the help of the staff at Fiesta Americana.
The rooms were amazing. The food was incredible. The pools, hot-tubs and seemingly private beach were all just icing on the cake.
Can't wait to go back to Cabo and will definitely be staying at Fiesta Americana!

“FIESTA AMERICANA IS GRAND”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

It starts with the location .... on the corridor about 9 KM from Cabo. Nice beach, little rocky, but snokeling can be fun. FA provides excellent service and excellent to good meals, with especial presentation! Maybe a bit costly, but worth it. The morning buffet is $24 (a little costly) except for the large eater and consumers of vodka and champagne. Variety is good, however very traditional mexican. We enjoyed seventeen days there, taking in the scenery, the beach, the pools and the food and drink. All of our contact with the staff was excellent, from Paulina (front desk), to Adriano and Leticia (Concierge), to Alejandro and Jorge (Vina Del Mar, to Liaiana (Food Service), to Moises (Lifeguard) and Victor (Activities). We were treated with great respect and courtesy the whole time. I've been going to FA since '05 and things have improved each year. It takes time for change, but they are working to make things even better. Round trip to town on the shuttle is $10, however if you are planning more than an occassional trip, renting a car would be better. You can save some on food and related expenses by shopping at Walmart or Costco although you'll need to rent a car or depend on taxi service, as the shuttle doesn't go there. Don't expect TV service like here in the US, it just doesn't happen. There are a few english speaking channels, but that's about it ...... I throughly enjoy my visits and strongly recommend FA.

Room Tip: All the rooms have an ocean view, some better than others. Be sure to mention any needs for a disabl...
