WE WERE ROBBED BLIND AT THIS HOTEL. NO JOKE- you are taking a huge risk by staying here.
If you want to know the honest truth about this hotel please read on:
I just returned from Cabo today after a five day trip for spring break, and I could not get on this website fast enough to write a review to warn other people about the dangers of this place. Here's the story: My boyfriend and I are both college students who wanted a cheap hotel to stay while vacationing in Cabo San Lucas. I have been to Cabo six times now and I have never had a problem with the city or the people there. I found the Hotel Villas del Pescador online and it was definitely within our price range...we had read all of the reviews on the hotel, and it sounded okay for a young couple not planning on spending too much time in the hotel. So, we booked it, and upon arriving, it was better than our expectations. The pool was decent and, although it looked extremely run down from the outside, the room was basic and clean (for the most part- a cheap hotel in Mexico is never THAT clean). So, we unpacked our clothes and put all of them on the shelves provided. We decided to go to dinner, where we were no longer than an hour, and when we returned to our hotel room, EVERYTHING WAS GONE. Literally- all of our clothes were missing off of the shelves and our suitcases were missing. A small baf of jewelry and a small makeup bag of mine were also gone. However, the consederate thieves did leave my underwear and shoes on the shelves. We double checked to make sure the door was locked before we left, and when we returned from dinner the door was locked again. The windows were bolted shut and there was no other way to enter our room, so basically someone WITH A KEY came into our room, stole everything out of it, and then locked the door behind them. I freaked out and ran down to the lobby, where I told the hotel employee, Raul, about what had happened. He REFUSED to call the police for us until I started yelling at him in Spanish, and when he learned I was fluent in Spanish he began to cooperate more. The cops came and did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but just stand there. Raul, the young guy working the front desk, told the police that we must have lost our stuff (although how you can lose three suitcases full of clothes AFTER unpacking them in your room I don't know). We did file a police report, however that did not really even help the situation because nothing came of it. On top of the fact, the hotel would not even give us a refund after what happened, so we ended up leaving and going to a resort with security and safes in the rooms. Seriously, it was an absolute NIGHTMARE. Many other people were complaining on this website about the hotel being disgusting and such, but it really was not bad. The bad thing about this hotel is the safety, seeing that that we were ROBBED BLIND within two hours of checking in. Luckily I had both my boyfriend's and my passport in my purse, as well as my wallet and phone, but EVERYTHING ELSE was taken. All of my clothes, jewelry, and make- up were stolen, and all of my boyfriend's clothes as well. In addition, an envelope that contained paperwork like hotel and flight reservations, airline tickets, and other personal information was taken as well. There is a lot more that I would like to write in this review, including who the police suspected of taking our belongings, but the review will not get posted if I include that information, and I want as many peole to read this as possible in hopes that the same thing doesn't happen to them that happened to us. I am not saying every person who stays here will get robbed, but you will be taking a huge risk by doing so. Many of my friends stayed at the Tesoro Los Cabos, and the rates there were very reasonable for a SAFE HOTEL, so do yourself a favor: pay just a little bit more for a hotel where you know you and your belongings will be safe.
