“Melia Cabo Real all inclusive”

Melia cabo all inclusive was just that, from friendly staff, clean and quite rooms, good size pool and good padded sun beds and four poster beds ( for a charge of $25 for the first day,and 12.50 for any other day) great food..(even the buffet was some of tastiest we have ever had at a sun loving all inclusive, and the authentic mexican breakfast great, and look out for whales and dolphins from the patio, very surreal! if you use the asian speciality restaurant, highly recommend the tuna toast,) the hotel bar was the evening activity area, the games staff were fun and energetic, look out for oscar to get you involved, in the fun. a hotel to meet and mingle with fellow guests at night around the bar and lots of kid friendly club events to do during the day, the beach is quite, and safe to swim, jet ski and kayaks avail for rent, as well as horse riding on the beach, not the usual mexican walk way of sellers. 20min ride into cabo or san jose del cabo by taxi $20-25 if you need, or $2 bus ride, cools off in the evenings of january but still pleasant with no bugs flying around, we did 3 tours with cabo adventures, do not recommend the camel safari, ended up being a 20 min camel ride, and waiting around a lot, the mexican lunch provided was great though, the whale watching was fun and bring your camera there going to be whales, and snorkelling was fun, there swim with dolphins did look the best in the area, and kid friendly. altogether a good tour company to use, well organized, they take lots of pictures on the tours, so smile, you only have to buy if you like them, and buying the disc is best and cheapest and the photographer throws in some of there own from the area as well, good value, look out for when a cruise ship is in though as they will take preference at times and prices in shops rise!!!! lovers beach can be reached by water taxi around $10-15 if bartering! and the world famous arch is a must to see and photograph...hope you enjoy your holiday

Room Tip: quite room on the golf course side, partial ocean view , you get sunsets

“Had a very nice time”

Just got back and had a nice stay. Not much to add to the other reviews other than my wife the vegetarian had no problem eating here. They had several vegetarian options at the buffet. The ala carte restaurants had a more limited menu but they made a special dish for her. The room showed some wear but nothing I would call excessive. Beer in the room mini bar would have been nice. The bed was hard as a rock as others have stated. It didn't bother me but some might not like it that firm. I only really have two complaints. One is the price of the internet (wi-fi only). It gets cheaper the more time you buy. $18 for one day, $45 for 3 days, $77 for 7 days. I forget what the 5 day one was. Really? $18 for a day? The insult was you could see that the Hilton next door was $10 a day. If you get it, it appears to be MAC filtered as I paid using my laptop but when I tried to log in using my phone it wouldn't let me log on. My only other complaint was when we went to take the bus into town. Just past the "gate" there is a taxi stand in the main drive. You will be approached every time you go by it for timeshares. That wasn't really part of the resort but it still reflected on it. Other than the two issues, it's a nice place. Huge beach and heated pool. Not much going on at night as there is only a small bar near the lobby. Room service has a $10 fee applied to it. The TV is wired into a hotel cable set up w/ mostly Spanish language stations.

Room Tip: I was in building 3 and had a nice view of the ocean.

My son and I just came back ( Feb 9th}. If you want a place thats laid back and friendly this is it. The food lots of choices for everyone, rooms very clean. While I was there I had an accident on the beach( please be careful of the waves) the Ocean waves knocked me over, broke my fibula while I was trying to get out. When I got back from surgery on Tues the Hotel managment were waiting for me, they up graded my room and treated me like a Queen. Waiters to the all the other staff wanted to help me with everything, I was wheel chair bound for the rest of my trip but they made it more comfortable for me. I have been to many other resorts in Mexico and I don't think I would have gotten this kind of excellent serivce any place else. Yes I would go back. If you want to shop in little Mexican shops go to San Jose, bus ride is about $2. Also keep your camera on you all the time, we saw Whales while eating lunch and dolphines close to shore. When you go into the airport there will be ppl at these desks they will tell you they need to see you before you find your tour guide, do NOT see them they want to sell you time shares and do not give them money for cheap excursions.

“Great holiday....”

We stayed at Melia Cabo Real from Jan.26-Feb.2,2012.
We are seasoned travellers, was our first trip to Los Cabos,,a direct flight from Edmonton took only 4hrs.15 min.A short drive from the airport and your in Paradise. The rooms are large and bright, nicely furnished and lots of drawer spaceThe hotel is U-shaped and every room has partial ocean view, The service is great ,we requested an extra blanket, and pronto! it was delivered to our room within 5-10 min.we had a slight problem with the sink (plug) which was immediatly fixed.
Maid service,Buffet and A La carte was great...eating meals at the buffet, either at breakfast--
overlooking the ocean ,watching sunrise is breath-taking.Buffet food and A La carte is very good.Fried icecream in the Japanese Restaurant is delicious.
You have to take a long stairway down going to the beach, the beach has course sand, hard on bare feet,,put something on your feet,But the sand by the water edge is nice and soft.
There are beautiful rock formations along the way ,,when you face the ocean, you turn left.
In the daytime,we watched whales and some cruise ships going by.
at nights ,we sat around the firepit in the lobby bar,or the firepit outside under the Palm trees and starlite sky ..There is always some entertainment going on..
On closing,IT has beautiful landscaping, super friendly people, everyday sunshine, birds chirping.................
THANK YOU,Mario Gaona(Guest Experience Manager)and All the staff.
WE will be back.

“Beautiful views, mostly great staff, OK beach”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Four friends spent five days at the Melia in late January and we had a great time. It was my first trip to Baja altough we have stayed at an all-inclusive on the Mayan Rivera. This is a different experience -- not better or worse, but different. We went mostly to see whales and escape the Midwestern winter and we did both nicely. I'd give it a 3.5 stars if I could.

This is not an exceptionally fancy resort but nice, beautifully landscaped, the location is great and the price was reasonable. Rooms were clean and comfortable although we only had folding chairs on our balcony, which seemed odd. I found the beds comfortable with a foam pad and slept well. A toilet problem was fixed quickly and our other requests were handled efficiently.

The staff was mostly extremely helpful and eager to please. The concierge -- Jose -- made our adventures outside the resort spectacular. Thanks to his wonderful advice on how to ride the buses, where to snorkel (Chilean Bay) and how to get places, we four older women traveled safely, easier and less expensively to San Jose and to Cabo. Jose provided exceptional service, seemed to really care that we had a good time and helped arrange a wonderful whale-watching trip for us. I'd go back for Jose's help alone -- very knowledgeable. Oskar the activities person was also terrific.

Some waiters in the sit-down restaurants seemed rushed because of short staffing. Not their faults but detracted from the experience. We had one extremely rude waiter in the Terraza who made us feel truly bad about bothering him, but he was the exception. Most staff worked very hard to please us and were efficient and helpful.

While tips are not required or expected, we did tip for exceptional service and this seemed greatly appreciated. Remember, these folks work remarkably hard for little money and tips can make a big difference for them.

Pool and snack bar area was nice -- some sun, some shade. The view from the pool and buffet restaurant area is spectacular. We saw whales spouting several times and watched them breaching on our last day. What a thrill!

We picked this resort because we wanted to swim in the sea. The beach is down a long flight of steps from the rest of the resort and the beach bar was not open when we were there so it was quite a hike to get water, drinks or a snack. No staff down there either. The small swimming area was nice although this is not the Caribbean so the water was fairly cool. There is some distance between the beach chairs and the actual ocean. In between is a hut where guys sell trips and jet ski rides. Just be aware that they folks are not associated with the hotel.

Food was mostly fine and there was plenty of it. The fish was exceptional and the Mexican-style breakfast was a treat. We enjoyed the Japanese resturant's Mahi Mahi and salmon. The Terraza's food was beautiful and delicious.

FYI, no canned or bottle beer in the room so grab a glass when you leave the pool.

We had a great time and enjoyed the relaxing pace at the Melia. We especially liked the quiet evenings. There were activities at 9 p.m. but we mostly relaxed, visited and played cards or enjoyed the fire pit or a drink before turning in. It. It was just right for the four of us.

Room Tip: Rooms in Building 3 are a nice location, close to the pool and away from the noise of the evening ev...
