Well, where to begin? I have been to Mexico and all over the world for that matter and although this is not the worst place I have been, on the contrary, it is a beautiful place. The service was horrible at this resort. Management? where? Initally I was put into a non-renovated room that faced the back lot with a view of garbage? I payed for a luxury suite and asked the desk clerk if this was one and he said no. I explained i had the paperwork in hand that I had paid for a luxury suite, he then changed the room to 347. In this room was a note on the desk stating that they had just fumigated the room...NICE I thought. I did not unpack as I was going to be moved one way or another. Needless to say, I am convinced that the bed had bed bugs as I awoke to many bites on my ankles.
Moving forward, It appears as if the staff is understaffed. at one point there was ONE bartender to service the so-called eating area as well as the pool. NO service here folks, we waited and waited and waited for drinks the entire trip. Making matters worse, I am a gracious tipper! I understand the wage there is $4.85 a day. A small tip is welcomed, a larger tip would ensure a drink every now and again? NOPE, did not matter.
Next room was 526, right above the main pool with a beautiful view of the marina, BUT very loud each and every night. The nights get a bit cool and you would like to open the screen door for the breeze, but to no avail there were parties uptown all night long.
Food at the Marina Fiesta is a farce! Breakfast is OK, plenty of fruit, cold cereal, but god for bid you want a cup of coffee or a refill..........forget about it. It was not until the day before we left that Lucio finally said, if you ever need anything, just holler out my name.
The food choices for the restaurants downstairs: Jack's was our fav spot and we received pretty good service there, although "the wait" must be the norm there. Italian was good. NEver bothered with the sushi joint as one of the staffers said that walmart had fresher sushi than that place. (did not want to risk getting sick on vacation, so we stayed away).
The location is about the only great thing about this place.
Oh, and stay away from the activities desk!!!!!! You think it there for activities? WRONG, it is the timeshare trap. Worse thing about that is that we went! They have one room set up all nice and pretty to "show" potential buyers, but truth is, none of the rooms look like that!
on the day before we went home, we could not get the fridge re-stocked with going to the front desk, talking to staff in the hall and finally i had the man call downstairs and get aggresive just to get some water.
i would not ever go back to this spot whatsoever. I may consider another location down the road, but for this avid travler, i am moving on to new locations....
I recommend the guys at dock B or D for your glass bottom boat trips, whale watching or fishing, they are very professional and nice to talk with.
Also, Kudos to the housekeeping staff for a wonderful job. work so very hard for $4.85 a day? just sad. I left her a tip everyday. She deserved it.
Would be nice if they came around to the 21st century and let some of the women work in the lounge, pool bar area and had some men cleaning!
OH and if you have an airport transfer back to the airport, make sure you ask the driver which terminal your flight goes out of or look at your paperwork. there are two terminals and IF you are lucky like us and one other couple, you will be dropped offf at the wrong one and will either hoof it with luggage in tow melting along the way, OR you will pay one of the vultures sitting there waiting to take you the distance for a hefty fee!
