I just got back from the ME a few days ago and had to write about our experience! Overall we had a great time at the ME. I went with two girlfriends of mine and one guy friend. Our guy friend was supposed to stay at his bosses timeshare at the Hilton but the reservations got messed up. So he came with us to our hotel and still had his bags. We told the front desk that he wasnt staying with us and he is going to spend the day with us at the pool until he figures his room out. They wouldnt bring up his bag so he could change into his swimming wear. They said that there are 3 in the room so only 4 bags can come up? We explained to them the situation but they did not care. They even said that he wasnt allowed to be in our room and only allowed to be in public areas of the hotel. Like really? We are paying for this room, we should be allowed to bring whoever we want. Oh ya and if you are trying to bring a guy/girl back after the bar, please note that they make that person sign in. Very embarassing if you ask me! Somethings should not be recorded like late night hookups!! LOL.
Anyways..so my friend couldnt stay at the Hilton anymore so we said to stay with us. We asked if he can join our room but they wouldnt allow it. We told them that it wasnt our fault for his messed up timeshare and to please allow it this once. Of course they denied our request and made him get another room which he ended up paying $1000 for. (And that was supposed to be a discount). They have many rules and regulations at the ME which sometimes got annoying...
For instance, 1. you cant bring back any food or beverages to your room 2. you have to keep your door closed 3. You have to check in any people that come to your room 4. you cant lose your towel card or youll have to pay 5. no more than 3 to a room. And everything is "for your safety". This line became a funny saying for us by the end of the trip because of how much we heard it.
Okay the good, everyone must talk to Alberto at the front desk!! He is the best!! he helped us pick restaurants and bars to go to at night. He was really sweet and wish we got to say goodbye! Alberto if you are reading this we miss u from Detroit!!!
The crowd here is very upscale, and people in their late 20s to 40s. We loved the pool, just wished the music was a little better. We tried to get the dj to play some music we could sing to but he just played the techno/electronic stuff with just the beat.
Nikki beach had really good food! We ate lunch here almost everyday! The quesadillas and chicken satay were my favorite. There are great restaurants right on the beach to if you want to venture out! Mangos was really fun just like everyone said. 2x1 everyday from 7am to 7pm..cant beat that!!
For dinner we went to La Dolce (amazing Italian food!! and huge portions), Romeo and Julietta (even better italian food, homemade pasta and lots of variety) Alberto recommended The Doc for another Italian place but we did not like it at all. And that was supposed to be better than the other ones we went to, but we disagree.
Like most people said it is a short walk to downtown, but only a $6 cab ride. Some fun bars were Nowhere Bar, Pink Kitty and Mandala.
There are a lot of annoying sellers on the beach, but we learned just to ignore them and they dont talk to you. They also have jet skiing and another fun activities as well. Oh ya see Jesus on the beach... He has "EVERYTHING" you need ;)
The rooms were pretty generic. They only had one outlet we could use so we had to get a power strip. The beds are awful and hard! Had the worst sleep and woke up every day sore. We expected more from the rooms.
I would definitely chose the ME as it is the best hotel in Cabo, but I would only recommend this hotel for people who like to party and like that Miami/Vegas type of scene!
Lastly, yes on the weekends you do need to reserve a bed and its $56 and you need to buy a bottle. But since we didnt want a bottle, we just asked if we can spend $200 (the cheapest bottle amount) on a food and drink tab. They told us just drinks. but when we checked out they applied our food on there anyways. Thanks for that Hugo!!
