“Clean, quiet and comfortable in a great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

First off this is not a five-star, all-inclusive, but it is an amazingly well-located, clean and comfortable hotel. What we liked:

location-on the marina you can walk everywhere. Important in cabo when cabs are so expensive

View-our room faced the marina and we had a lovely veiw of the water and marina

breakfast brunch included-plus it was served to 11:30am. Awesome for us night owls. The food was really tasty.

beds-very comfortable which can be a challenge in Mexico

computers in the lobby with free internet. They can give you a key to use wireless as well if you have your own laptop. Not sure how well it works.

Good room amenities and very clean

Polite, friendly, VERY helpful staff

What could be improved:

an information brochure in your room with the hotel services and hotel map
I didn't know until the last day there was a free shuttle to the beaches and I really had to search out the gym/pool

the pool/gym could be open a wee bit later. 9pm seems reasonable.

a hard chair and/or small desk. I don't always want to sit in bed and my dad had a bad back so he found this annoying

better cafe-the coffee was passable but it seemed to change each day...one day it was ok, then terrrible.

*on a side note as in all mexico resort towns the time share people are here and don't be fooled they work from the activity desk. If you are offered a hotel tour, discount or promotion odds are this is a time share pitch. Politely and firmly say you are not interested and happy to pay full price for your tour/activity.

If you do go to the pitch-note that two hours is generally four and it will be HIGH pressure but if you can withstand the battering, and even if nastines,s you will get your discount BUT do not go wthout money as you may get stuck there if they refuse to give you that free ride home...I have friends that go and love the discounts but to me wasting a full day in and uncomfortable situation is not worth it for a small savings as no matter what they say -the presentation and pressure will be long and intense.

Room Tip: Marina side is great

“Watch out”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We booked our room on priceline for 4 people. I printed it all out and we were set. Not when we got there we had to wait while they stood around and did nothing. When they did check us in they said we had a room for 2 so there would be a charge of 60.00 per night. the paper work did not show any count of the people just room with double bed. But in the fine print it said " all room are booked for double occ. and any more than 2 are not guaranted" News to me when I booked for 4. The front desk was rude and didnt care or show any intrest in us staying or not. We did stay and paid the extra. Bad way to start the trip. The hotel is in a great location. We walk to everything. That is the ONLY resaon to stay here. They are Very agresive about their time share deal. Dont fall for the "FREE" excursions they offer. The room did come with buffet breakfast it was fair. Watch out when you are walking around the marina at night for dinner. VERY in your face husslers to come to their resturant. Be Very clear befor you sit down as to what you get,how much food, and the cost. The worst part is the "TAX" ? 30%. The food was good. location great. Now for the night life we went to several, The Giggling Marline was quite that night we did eat here simple bar food. fish tacos were good. BUT my son did do a ceaser salad and got sick that night. Super nice waiters fun place. We also went to Squid row BECAREFUL here pay as you go dont do a tab. We saw lots of problems with peoples bills. It can be a crazy fun place, just depends on the night. We went to & stayed next door at Alexanders. My son had won bottle service there from a compation on the beach. We were leary but it was GREAT. had lots of fun dancing. Our bill was 15.00 for the night!! Now on to the beach.. we stayed most of the day at Mangos fun place good promo guy lots of game got the crowd playng all kind of thing we had a GREAT time all day.As I said my son won a comatition but we REALLY had to push to get the prize. The bill came they charged 20.00 for one large drink. When we were told we had won shots for the games... NOT the charged us 40.00 for 4 watered down quarvo shots. Not good, we talked the them about all fo this, but who cares a new day new people. BEWARE. we love cabo and have gone several times and we will go again. We felt VERY safe evan at mid night. Lots of police everywere. Very nice we talked to several people who live there for months at a time and they said th same thing. Safe and detremined to keep it that way.

Reservation problems are always unfortunate and stressful for both guests and hotels, we do apologize to the reviewer for any additional stress we may have caused due to this reservation issue. Nevertheless, in this instance, the reviewer had her reservation in hand and as stated in writing, all rooms are booked on “Double Occupancy” unless specified otherwise. As the reviewer clearly states in her review, it was not indicated anywhere that the reservation was booked for four people, for this reason after the second guests, the extra person charge applies per additional guest. We contacted Priceline and they confirmed that the reservation was on made and paid on double occupancy. We encourage the reviewer to contact Priceline to further review this situation if she feels otherwise.
We are disappointed that the guest is unhappy not only with the extra person charge at our resort, but in general with all the money issues described in her review with restaurants and bars throughout Cabo.
We hope to have the opportunity to welcome the reviewer back in the near future, under more pleasant circumstances.

Sincerely,

Juan Carlos Meza Bravo

“Would not recommend this hotel.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We received a call at 12:00 midnight from a women asking my wife what her name was and that they needed us to go down to the hotel lobby. Alarmed, my wife hung up the phone and called the lobby. Their was a male at the front desk and assured us that he was the only person working (no women). The front desk attendant said that he did not transfer any calls to our room, and the call had to have come from inside the hotel. For some reason, the person calling our room wanted us to leave our room and go to the lobby. There were no secondary locks on the door, so if the person did have a key to our room they could get inside. This made us feel very uneasy.
After talking to the man at the front desk, the unknown caller continued to call over and over. We had to take the phone off the hook to stop the calls.
The next day we decided to check out of the Wyndham and relocate to another nearby hotel for the remaining days of our vacation. Even after this experience Wyndham would cooperate with the bookit.com staff in refunding our money. We were charged for an extra night that we did not stay there, even though we checked out prior to the 12:00 checkout.
Very poor service by Wyndham.

The scariest thing is that we found a similar post on TripAdvisor about a similar occurrence.

The first room we were given was a non-smoking room which smelled horribly like smoke. My wife is pregnant and we asked to move rooms. Wyndham did upgrade our room for free after the person from the front desk came into our room and smelled the smoke.

We were only given two towels per day. No wash cloths, no hand towels.

The pool was a bit outdated, but not too bad.

The restaurant staff was very friendly, and the food was really good. Juan at the front desk was extremely helpful and friendly.

The location is good if you are looking to walk downtown. Although, I would recommend a resort on the beach. The walk is only 5-10 minutes to downtown from Casa Dorada, ME, or Bahia.

I would like to take the opportunity to mention that we find the subject of this review deeply disturbing, although comments can be posted on Trip Advisor without verification. Thru ample research in this case there is no doubt that this is a dubious and questionable review with misleading and false information, i.e. that a secondary lock does not exist and that anyone with a key can access to a room. We believe the reviewer is copying a retaliatory past post on Trip Advisor, as the customer mentioned in his own review, with the purpose that the Hotel waives the charge for the cancelation of his unused part of the stay, as requested also in his review.

We do appreciate the positive notes regarding our Food and Front Office Staff.

We deeply regret the reviewers discomfort whatever the real cause is, and will most certainly appreciate to look into it, if the reviewer would like to pursue this matter further please contact me at your earliest convenience, jmeza@wyndham.com

“Wyndham just what we expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

We upgraded our room to a suite in #529 and found it to be quite spacious. An amazing view overlooking the marina and highly recommended. The free breakfast buffet was perfect and never a line up or a wait. A walk down the boardwalk during the day can get annoying as someone is always selling you something. It gets so bad during the afternoon you just have to keep walking saying no-no-no the entire time as someone always seems to be trying to sell you something. Take the water tax down to the beach for $3.00 or to Lovers beach/divorce beach as the beach and water are prestine and its really quite beautiful there.

The hot tub was more like a luke warm tub until 8:00pm when it seems only then do they actually kick up the temperature a bit. The pool is cold but when its plus 30 C or more outside thats not too bad.

For partiers there is no shortage of nightlife as Squid Roe is completely amazing. Top 40 music with a partying staff and 3 levels to dance in including on the ledges in behind the tables if you have a booth. Mandela's is right next door as well and Cabo Wabo just 1 short block away from that which tends to cater to the older crowd.

Beware the drinks are crazy expensive. Cabo Wabo sold us a rye and coke for $22.00 and they WILL NOT GIVE YOU CHANGE unless you harrass them for it. Even then they will pretend like you said it was ok for them to keep the change. It's VERY annoying as if $22 for a drink wasn't expensive enough. After that first night we just bought our own drinks in a plastic bottle and had our own fun to keep prices reasonable and no one asks you what kind of drink you have in your container. It's very safe walking around during the day and at night no matter what time you are walking.

As far as excursions go, we went golfing at the Diamonte golf course where the greens fees are $303 but lowered down to $275 if you visit the time share presentation and since its a private course thats pretty much the only way you will get on it. It's built right beside where the filled the battle scene from Troy on the beach and the course is also ranked $58 in the world by Golf Digest so if golf is your thing this may be worth doing. The 4 bedroom palaces they show you for the timeshare are simply amazing but the price is just silly at $125,000 for a 50 year timeshare with a $2500 per year maintenance fee per year. Yeeeesh! They said no to my friend's offer of $60,000 so they must be doing well for themselves.

Another excursion we went on was the ATV rides. Try to go on the 6 hour Troy excursion ride as they will take you to the famous battle scene where Brad Pitt drive shis sword into the giant in one of the opening scenes in the movie. If you can get a private tour ($170) it is VERY MUCH WELL WORTH the price as we went down the official Baja 1000 ATV run where they hold there ATV races there. Picture 45 inclines/declines with 1 foot crevices in the road and 1 foot rocks dotting it to boot with 50 foot drops on one side and sheer rock face on the rother and low visibility with the dust being kicked up from the guide ahead of you. Very thrilling and a whole lot of fun! If you happen to go on the shorter tours you will likely get stuck behind the slowest rider possible as the guides can't take you any faster and this will likely ruin the whole experience for you.

Whale watching tours are also great if you have not done that kind of thing before as well.

Bring lots of small bills! Can't stress that enough. Between the tipping and the water taxis you will go through a whole bunch of them in no time.

A great stay at the Wyndham! January 15-22, 2012

Room Tip: Try to get a room high up on the marina side. We had room 529 and it was great. It even had a small...

I am a kind of person who would appreciate folks for a job well done but getting into a website and posting reviews is not my cup of tea.Me n my husband had been to this resort to celebrate our Christmas vacation last year...and I was so very moved with the courteous n friendly staff that I could not hold myself from writing this. The service extended by the hotel staff was praiseworthy.I was really impressed by the fluent and friendly communication of Eduardo who is the front desk hotel manager. We being first time visitors to Cabo he gave us pointers to noteworthy sites that we could cover in short stint. The breakfast served every morning....oh my God that was the best part.In short if you get a chance to go to Cabo then this is the place to stay...once again three cheers for Eduardo n his staff
