My wife and I booked their Hogmany package so our experience will not be entirely representative but, as the secret of the Creggans clearly lies in the ceaseless efforts of Archie & Gill and their staff to care for their guests, it will give a valid flavour of the place. The Inn's lochside situation is stunning and, from the minute we walked in and were shown around by Gill, we felt at home. The rooms, all individually decorated as far as we could tell, are warm and comfortable and our bathroom was generously sized. Both were impeccably clean and everything worked, including the wi-fi. There are comfortable lounges upstairs and down, a smart restaurant and a locally-popular public bar with food, upwards of a dozen whiskies and a couple of well-kept local real ales. Being Hogmany there was very much a house party feel, with organised activities such as a New Year's Eve ceilidh and a guided walk, led by Gill (and Hector, the friendly, resident mutt) with Archie driving out to meet us with warm mince pies and a selection of seasonal drinks. The food was never less than good and was mostly exceptional and they went to considerable lengths to cater for my wife's wheat intolerance. Their wines are also very good. The only adverse comment I would make is that, while we felt that the £1,000 our 3 night stay cost us represented good value, the £12 each for fairly basic packed lunches for our return journey was somewhat excessive. That aside, we were very happy with our stay and are already considering booking for next Hogmany.
Room Tip: Try to get a loch view.
