We stayed at the Fiesta Real on the first night of a three day road trip from Phoenix to San Miguel de Allende, MX. The property is situated on a tranquil part of the bay before you get to the Main part of the city. Although the rooms show as circa 1980, they are clean, have great mattresses (which are very important after a day in the car) and all have fantastic ocean views with a substantial patio that allows you to fall asleep to the sound crashing of waves. Be forewarned that if you want to use the A/C, it was loud in our room and I would recommend you take a pair of ear plugs. This is a family run property so somethings fall through the cracks. When we got to our rooms, we had no towels of any kind. The receptionist gladly gave us two bath towels as the remaining towels were not ready.......not a big deal in the scheme of things.
Their outside bar gladly served up the third game of the World Series for us. Their dining room was more formal then we cared for so we opted to eat on their patio. Dinner of freshly caught shrimp and Mahi-Mahi cooked to order was flavorful and very reasonably priced. The evening was quiet and we fell asleep to the sound of crashing waves. The beach at the hotel is great to walk on and offers shell hunters many treasures.
I do not give out recommendations easily, but this place is a great value and has a spectacular location on a bay with no high rise chain hotels. Plus they take pets!
