“January 26 - 29, 2012 Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Today is my last day of a four day stay at Susurro. Like other reviewers, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Robert was a warm, gracious host. The breakfast that both he and Lola prepared were delicious!!! Pictures from his website accurately depict this B & B. I stayed in Musicos, and it was everything and more that I would want in a room. It was well appointed and very comfortable. I plan to return to San Miguel de Allende in the future, and I will, without hesistation, book at Susurro. I was not disappointed and you won't be either!!!

We stayed at Sussuro for 5 nights...everything was really nice. Room was beautifully decorated and comfortable. The owner, Robert is a very sweet man and great host...Breakfasts by Lola were soooo delicious!! Great location - a short walk to the square. Loved it!

“Wish everywhere we stay would be as perfect as Susurro.”

There isn't anything we would change about our stay at Susurro. My husband and I were greeted by Robert Waters, the gracious owner and host of Susurro. Our room, one of four offered, was spacious, comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. We appreciated that the TV was hidden behind a painting since we didn't feel the need to watch it. The sunny patio outside the french doors was surrounded by plants, well cared for by Susurro's gardener. We started the day being served a delicious, home cooked breakfast. Every day, there was a different hot Mexican specialty, with fresh fruit, yogurt, juice and coffee served in the beautiful dining room. Robert joined us and gave us information and recommendations. He made arrangements and reservations based on our likes and budget. The location is ideal. The neighborhood is safe as well as any part of San Miguel that you might wish to walk. If you tire of walking, the taxis are fair, charging by zone and inexpensive. We stayed five days and wished we could have stayed longer. Although we are not "dog people", we didn't mind Zeke, a well behaved, clean and quiet dog who lives at Susurro. There are lovely common areas to sit, have a drink, read or chat with other guests. Coming back at night after a day of touring and walking, we knew we would relax and have a good sleep at Susurro.

Room Tip: We stayed in Pinas, which was very comfortable. If our budget allows, next time we would stay in Re...

“San Miguel de Allende is Safe and "Susurro" is Wonderful!”

My husband and I returned to San Miguel de Allende, for the second time in 7 years to observe the "Semana Santa" celebrations this April, 2011. We immediately contacted Robert Waters to make sure that we could stay once again at "Susurro", which had been our Mexican "home away from home" during our last visit in November, 2004.
Our stay of 10 days was delightful! San MIguel is completely safe, and, even though family and friends were skeptical of our travel to Mexico, we were once again surrounded and embraced by the beauty, the hospitality and the friendliness that is only Mexico. Nothing has changed in San Miguel, and the city was full of Mexican families enjoying their Easter vacations.
"Susurro" is still as pleasing to the senses as it was 7 years ago..., from Lola's breakfasts, always delicious, always changing, to the beautiful and comfortalbe colonial architecture, to Robert's gracious hospitality.
Hasta la proxima vez.

“Spanish Colonial elegance with exceptional hospitality and comfort.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 March 2011

Robert Waters has created a gem in San Miguel de Allende: 4 unique rooms set in his private hacienda. Each accomodation feels very private; 3 have terraces, and there is a beautiful roof garden for all. Additionally there is a lovely living room and 2 separate courtyard garden areas for sitting. The quiet sound of falling water from the fountain adds to the feeling of intimacy. Our breakfasts with Robert were delicious and conversation always interesting. The staff was very helpful and meticulous in their cooking and care of the environment. My adult daughter and I spent a week at Susurro, and will surely return to stay there again if we are fortunate enough to return to San Miguel.
