“An OASIS!”

No doubt about it. This little hotel sums up what San Miguel de Allende is. The beautiful rustic and almost Spanish feel to a Mexican city. Very well kept, we had a little climb up some steps to our room, a dressing area and bedroom area, a quaint little bathroom with the usual artizan style taps and basin, flowers EVERYWHERE, terracotta pots, humming birds, a very clean breakfast area and excellent service. Nothing to fault here. There was no parking, in fact there is no on street parking either, we had to go round the corner and find a place, but it was safe. It was a few blocks walk past endless beautiful shops up to the main town square (Which had a Starbucks on it BTW). amazing shopping so close to the hotel.

“The hotel bargain of SMA”

We've stayed in several of the less expensive SMA hotels, some more than once. The Villa Mirasol is the class of the lot. Friendly staff, spotlessly clean, and an open, sunny ambience, thanks to the interior terraces. This hotel punches far above its weight class.

“Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover”

From the street this hotel looks quite plain. There is no parking, even for registration and check in. However, once inside, the hotel is quite nice. It was decorated for Christmas and had a comfortable feeling. Like other buildings in this part of Mexico, once inside a courtyard opens up to reveal a complex arrangement of hotel rooms. Each room is distinct and has its own name. The room I stayed in was large and had everything needed.
If you can avoid it, don't bring a car to San Miguel. However, if you do (as I did), the staff will call a parking lot a few blocks away to valet the car for the night. They will return it upon contact in the morning. The staff was very helpful and amables.

“Nice hotel for the price”

First visit to S.M. in years and had no idea where to stay. Luckily found the hotel on Trip Advisor and decided to try it out after reading the reviews. I was not dissapointed! Nice hotel and great location. Off the main street which was nice but close enough to walk to the center of town and within walking distance of some great restaurants. The Paloma room were clean and big enough for us two and had that "feel" of San Miguel. Also loved hearing the church bell ring through out the day (it was not loud just a nice background sound). The staff was very helpful and friendly as well. The only thing lacking was a pool but would not hesitate to stay there next time we visit.

“Wonderful experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

This little quirky Mexican hotel with an amazing price that includes breakfast is to be highly recommended for its friendly, helpful staff, its lovely clean rooms with boiling hot water and air conditioning, minutes walking distance from the centre of town and the main square. Our favourite room is 'Bougainvillea' although all rooms are original and spotless.
San Miguel and its sister town Gaunajuato are both Unesco Heritage sites and its shows with their cleanliness, friendliness and safety.
Watch out for overpriced and bad food in a lot of the restaurants supposed to be over 600.
We highly recommend Casa Payo on Cerada de Zacateros where each evening we were serenaded by street guitarist who make their rounds from restaurant to restaurant and table to table, very high quality of music with friendly waiting staff. Cafe de la Parroquia on Jesus offers a wonderful three course luncheon for $10. Both restaurants are easy walking from the hotel Mirasol.
Watch out for the over expensive Golf Course where we had our camera stolen from a table at the bar and even although we called immediately we missed it, it was never returned.
We visited the pyramids and had a day out at Gaunajuato which is to be recommened, take a private car and driver for the latter. Bought lots of sweet smelling wild flowers from the basket of the Indian Indigenous people who come in to the town early morning to sell their goods. Also bought dozens of heady fat roses from the street vendors for a couples of dollars per dozen. Amazing assortments of fruits are available for pennies from the street vendors which we consumed on a daily basis, of for the taste of ripe fruit not forced or mass marketed. Will definitely go back to Villa Mirasol for an authentic Mexican experienc under the best of conditions.

Room Tip: Bougainvillea was our favourite
