“Wonderful experience”

This little quirky Mexican hotel with an amazing price that includes breakfast is to be highly recommended for its friendly, helpful staff, its lovely clean rooms with boiling hot water and air conditioning, minutes walking distance from the centre of town and the main square. Our favourite room is 'Bougainvillea' although all rooms are original and spotless.
San Miguel and its sister town Gaunajuato are both Unesco Heritage sites and its shows with their cleanliness, friendliness and safety.
Watch out for overpriced and bad food in a lot of the restaurants supposed to be over 600.
We highly recommend Casa Payo on Cerada de Zacateros where each evening we were serenaded by street guitarist who make their rounds from restaurant to restaurant and table to table, very high quality of music with friendly waiting staff. Cafe de la Parroquia on Jesus offers a wonderful three course luncheon for $10. Both restaurants are easy walking from the hotel Mirasol.
Watch out for the over expensive Golf Course where we had our camera stolen from a table at the bar and even although we called immediately we missed it, it was never returned.
We visited the pyramids and had a day out at Gaunajuato which is to be recommened, take a private car and driver for the latter. Bought lots of sweet smelling wild flowers from the basket of the Indian Indigenous people who come in to the town early morning to sell their goods. Also bought dozens of heady fat roses from the street vendors for a couples of dollars per dozen. Amazing assortments of fruits are available for pennies from the street vendors which we consumed on a daily basis, of for the taste of ripe fruit not forced or mass marketed. Will definitely go back to Villa Mirasol for an authentic Mexican experienc under the best of conditions.

Room Tip: Bougainvillea was our favourite

“Wonderful hotel!”

This was my first time in San Miguel, and the city is beautiful. The Marisol Hotel was exceptional! This may not mean much to some, but the comforter on the bed smelled like laundry detergent, meaning it had been washed before our stay! The place was extremely clean, and the staff was very friendly. The hotel is a few blocks away from the center of everything, which I was happy about. We were just close enough to be able to walk everywhere, but we didn't have all of the additional noise in the background. We stayed at the Marisol Hotel for three nights, and we honestly didn't know anyone else was there until the last day we were there. That's how quiet and private the place is! The staff was able to help us w/ directions and spoke enough English as was needed. I honestly could not have asked for a better place to stay. The hotel was amazing, and for the price, I couldn't have asked for a better deal anywhere. The hotel may be selling themselves short by the low cost of the rooms b/c the hotel definitely compares to the pricier ones, in my opinion. You'd be doing yourself a favor by staying at this place. I was sad to leave. Thank you so much, San Miguel and the Villa Marisol Hotel!

Room Tip: We stayed in a wonderful room, the middle-priced one. It was pretty noisy our first night, but we t...

“a totally charming b&b”

My husband and I stayed at Villa Mirasol for 10 days last February, while we were getting our own apartment in San Miguel furnished. I learned about it from my Spanish teacher, a local SMA resident who had been giving lessons to a hotel resident and gave high praise to graciousness of the staff she had met there. She was certainly right on. Every staffer, from front desk to manager to owner, is extremely gracious. We arrived back one day from Costco, with 2 sets of kingsize bed sheets & 4 sets of towels and no washer yet in our apt. The hotel got them all washed for us & seemed more than happy to do it. I've stayed in many hotels where the public spaces are quite elegant but the rooms another story. At Villa Mirasol it's the opposite. The public spaces are lovely, but they don't hint at how wonderful the rooms are. Very spacious, beautifully decorated, state of the art bathrooms -- I've now seen almost all of them, as I was offered a tour by Evangelina, the very congenial manager. The vegetarian egg white omelets were so good I had one every morning. And my husband can now order his entire breakfast in Spanish, thanks to the patient lessons our server gave him every morning. Hotel hospitality doesn't get any better than this, particularly at the prices Villa Mirasol charges.

“Return stay was great again!”

I recently completed a second stay at Villa Mirasol Hotel. Once again I was pleased with the hotel in every way. In San Miguel there are many nice places to stay. There are certainly fancier and more expensive places to stay than Villa Mirasol. However, I will continue to stay here because of the great value for the money. This is not the kind of place that "anticipates" your needs. However, the staff are hard working and very nice. It is pretty (not elegant) and well located, too.

“Delightful, hope to return.”

Highly recommended. I stayed at Villa Mirasol with my daughter for a week so she could practice her Spanish. We had a wonderful time. The hotel is spotless, the breakfast delicious, the staff friendly and helpful. We required an emergency ambulance ride to the hospital due to a medication reaction, where my daughter was observed overnight and discharged the next day. Not only did the hotel manger visit us at the hospital, she sent me a meal brought by her daughter and son. I hope to return to San Miguel de Allende and Villa Mirasol soon.
