This little quirky Mexican hotel with an amazing price that includes breakfast is to be highly recommended for its friendly, helpful staff, its lovely clean rooms with boiling hot water and air conditioning, minutes walking distance from the centre of town and the main square. Our favourite room is 'Bougainvillea' although all rooms are original and spotless.
San Miguel and its sister town Gaunajuato are both Unesco Heritage sites and its shows with their cleanliness, friendliness and safety.
Watch out for overpriced and bad food in a lot of the restaurants supposed to be over 600.
We highly recommend Casa Payo on Cerada de Zacateros where each evening we were serenaded by street guitarist who make their rounds from restaurant to restaurant and table to table, very high quality of music with friendly waiting staff. Cafe de la Parroquia on Jesus offers a wonderful three course luncheon for $10. Both restaurants are easy walking from the hotel Mirasol.
Watch out for the over expensive Golf Course where we had our camera stolen from a table at the bar and even although we called immediately we missed it, it was never returned.
We visited the pyramids and had a day out at Gaunajuato which is to be recommened, take a private car and driver for the latter. Bought lots of sweet smelling wild flowers from the basket of the Indian Indigenous people who come in to the town early morning to sell their goods. Also bought dozens of heady fat roses from the street vendors for a couples of dollars per dozen. Amazing assortments of fruits are available for pennies from the street vendors which we consumed on a daily basis, of for the taste of ripe fruit not forced or mass marketed. Will definitely go back to Villa Mirasol for an authentic Mexican experienc under the best of conditions.
