“not too bad, but I hope never to go back”

The condos are spacious but deteriorated. If you expect a hotel room, you get more than that (a living room and a patio for each unit), but if you expect a condo you will be disappointed. We booked because it said it fit up to 6 people, we booked it for a week and invited friends to join us for a couple of days, big mistake, we had to get an extra unit so they could have a place to sleep in. There is only 2 beds, one individual and one "full" which is actually quite small. We were there for the last week of may and the days were hot. We spent some nights unable to sleep due to the lack of A/C, we asked for a fan and the one they had was very old and did not work. The units are very hard to get to if you are not on good shape, the steps are bigger size than normal and very hard to climb. I consider myself to be in good health and was gasping for air mid way to the room. Between the altitude of the town, the heat and the steep steps, we could not really enjoy our stay in San Miguel. The service is ok, most people were very nice, but could only do so much with the run down facilities. Choose another place to stay, there are plenty others in town, this one is quite far away.

Room Tip: ask for a unit close to the street.

“Flying Solo at La Ermita”

I have visited San Miguel de Allende several times within the last 13 years. One of the best places I have stayed at is La Ermita. As a single woman, of colour and of a certain age, I felt comfortable at La Ermita. I enjoyed all of my stays there. The staff is friendly and kind ...only smiles and assistance with my needs. My room overlooked the swimming pool and the magical vista of San Miguel. My suite was super clean and spacious. Access to the internet, restaurant and laundry services made it easy for me to feel at home. You truly feel you are on vacation; staying at La Ermita. Clarita

“Loved our stay”

We just got back from a faboulous stay in San Miguel de Allende at the Posada La Ermita. The staff is wonderful, friendly and courteous. The posada is absolutelly beautiful, the rooms are spacious each with a beautiful view of the city of San Miguel and of their beautiful gardens. It is well kept and the rooms are very clean. Yes, we had to climb 106 steps to our room, but we stopped and rested at every landing and enjoyed the beautiful landscape. It is a good price to pay for the spectacular view of the Parroquia and the lake. We saw beautiful sunrises and sunsets from tha balcony of our room while having breakfast or dinner on our balcony. The only recommendation I would give is to modrrnize the furniture in the rooms. The sofa bed is very uncomfortable to sleep in and the living room needs table lamps. Other than that I truly recommend, if you are able to climb steps, to make your next reservation in San Miguel at the Posada La Ermita.

  • Liked — The spectacular view, the service, the landscaping
  • Disliked — The fact that you advertise room for five when in fact the other couple that stayed with us had to sleep in a twin bed because of the sofa bed being so old and uncomforable

“Enjoyed our Stay!”

If you are interested in experiencing Mexico at it's best, this is the place to stay. The staff was very curteous and attentive to our needs.
The rooms are clean and spacious. The only draw backs are, accessability to the rooms as there are plenty of steps to climb, no in room refrigerators and room service is limited. Otherwise, a great family hotel.J. DeLeon

“Beautiful Views of the City”

This hotel is located high above the town on a hill. We had the most wonderful views of the town, day and night, from our balcony. Very clean and comfortable rooms. We walked to and from town daily (about 20 minutes one way). We had over a hundred stairs to climb from the lobby up to our room, but the climb was through the most beautifully landscaped terraces and walkways. We are planning to go back again this fall. All that exercise just allows you to eat more of San Miguels wonderful food.
