“NEVER AGAIN”

It was scary to think about what might be crawling around on the cold tile floor. Stains on the walls and tile galore. Did I mention to bring a heater if you choose to go in the wintertime? When I went, the rooms were at least 10 degrees colder than the outside temperature. There is no direct sunlight in any of the rooms whatsoever. The showers SUCK!
Toilets clog daily. You won't feel like your on a vacation. But...
Bella Italia, the restaurant at the hotel is superb! Five star rating in my eyes.. The best meal I had in Mexico!

“Quaint and Charming.”

If you are a romantic who likes old world charm and you have to adhere to a strict budget, then I would highly recommend El Sautto. I have stayed there several times, and will go back again. I especially love the courtyard and adjoining small and intimate Italian Restaurant. Some rooms are better than others, so if you have a choice, look around before you decide. I have my favorite room which has a small skylight, and cute little fireplace. It's true that towels are a bit scarce, but if you ask, I'm sure they will bring extras. My favorite room has carpet which is awfully worn and a bit musty, but the bed is good, and the room spacious. The room across the way was quite different, smaller and with a tile floor. Not near as homey, but what can you expect for such a bargain! Convenient to everything. You can walk anywhere. I'd be happy to answer any questions.

“Good bargin hotel in a great location”

Old rambling hotel in a great location. Lots of plants. Vegatation everywhere. Rooms small and stark but atmosphere makes up for it. Had to cut the end off of a sharp bedspring. Price is right and you may get discount for 4 days or more. Right in the middle of downtown. Easy walk anywhere. Large off street parking with closed gate at night. Good place to stay, especially if on a budget. 5 stars if romance counts.

San Miguel is such a nice city. Class...lots of it. The hot springs (La Gruta) are close and worth a visit. Great swimming. Lots of north americans in town but the retired school teacher type not t shirt crowd. Great climate (everyone talks about the last freeze in 1937) Lots to see here. Good taxi and bus service. Great place to retire or visit.

“Simple Beauty”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2003

A nice little, moderately priced hotel with lots of charm. Generally good service but they tend to change your reservation if your not careful. You may have to stay in a different room when you get there and then get moved after a day or so. Some of thiis seems to go with the culture. They are not computerized so you have to expect a few glitches from time to time. Nonetheless, as long as they stay in the 25 to 35 a night area, it's a good deal for a place with good atmosphere and a nice resturant. The location is really nice as well! Enjoy!

“Bargain, centrally located”

Basic amenities. Towels in short supply and skimpy. Rooms range from single bed to 1 bedroom / bath upstairs with kitchen on ground floor. They do not take reservations but the price is right and affordable for budget vacation. Short walk to restaurants, central plaza and shopping. Don't miss the nearby hotsprings. Check out Dr. Morton Stith's lectures on local history/culture at the Library. Drop your laundry off in the morning and pick up in the afternoon. WASH ALL VEGETABLES/FRUIT in disinfectant. Bottled water to brush teeth, drink, etc. No problems with food at any of the restaurants...you're on your own with street vendors...I didn't try them. Block Buster had just arrived the last time I visited..2000..too bad. No stop signs, stop lights, plate glass windows or shopping malls. Salsa dance at Mama Mia's. Great city. Enjoy. Many American Ex-Pats. English spoken everywhere....except maybe the Sautto.
