“Spectacular views: The place to stay in the Copper Canyon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Stayed here for 2 nights during our Honeymoon trip through the Copper Canyon. Stayed in one of the "suites" which, I gather, are slightly bigger than the normal rooms. The hotel itself has a spectacular location with amazing views of the canyon from the rooms, balconies and restaurant. The food was fine for a couple of days and I would not wish to stay anywhere else in this area even if it promised better fare. Meal times and menu were set and the service was good. The bar had a 2 for 1 happy hour in the evenings with some live music.
We walked around the area and looked at some of the other hotels on offer out of interest for future visits. We were pleased that we stayed here and would come back again.
The zip wire though the canyon was thrilling and well worth the money. More adventure activity attractions are currently being built so I can only imagine that one day, the Copper Canyon will be a thrill seekers paradise.
Our guide for the whole trip (from Chihuahua though to Los Mochis) was Alfredo Murillo who was absolutely brilliant. He gave the perfect insight into the history and culture of Mexico and made the whole trip go smoothly. He has a fantastic sense of humour, speaks perfect English and is very accommodating whilst also unobtrusive. We felt safe for the whole of our trip and would thoroughly recommend the Copper Canyon and Alfredo for a fantastic trip through a beautiful, little known part of the world.

“TERRIBLE SERVICE, EXTREMELY RUDE MANAGER”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

This is a great place to rest for a while. There are no phones or TVs in the rooms. The views are breath-taking. We were treated to a margarita upon arrival and everything seemed pleasnant.

We were told when meals would be served. Breakfast at 8 lunch at 2 and dinner at 7. There was no meal service outside of these times. So if you go there be sure to take along drinks and extra food. Having been a chef for two years; the food left alot to be desired. They serve only one main course and there is nothing else available.

Happy hour started at 6 and there were 2 for 1 drinks. A small margarita cost 55 pesos.
Again there was no meal service available after the 7 PM dinner.

The manager tried to charge me someone else's bar tab at checkout. She has a reputation so I nearly left her in tears. I am fluent in Spanish and I can be rather mean when necessary. I paid top dollar for excellent service. I have no problem with putting hotel staff in their place. This was contrast to the phenominal service I receieved at Hilton Hotel in Nagoya, Japan.

A tour was arranged through the hotel and everything seemed above board. We went on the teleferico. The guide to us to 4 additional tourist spots. He was supposed to stay with us until the train arrived at 3:30. But we arrived in Creel at 12:00 PM and he basically told us to GET OUT.

This is a great place to get some rest and enjoy the views but the service is terrible.

“Spectacular Views, and near the Divisidero Zip Line!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

Every room has a balcony terrace with a breathtaking view at Posada Mirador. That's the draw. Food was OK, service was OK. Weather was great, with no need for heating or AC, but there were several blankets in the closet.
A few minutes' ride from Posada Mirador is Divisidero Barrancas, with a fabulous zip line that stretches out over the canyon with seven "zips" and two suspension foot bridges. The longest zip is nearly a mile in length and more than 1000 feet up. Excellent, well-trained guides and sparkling new Swiss equipment gave us confidence. We had a fantastic adventure, the high point of our week in Copper Canyon!

Spectacular views. Good Service. Nice rooms with views to die for. The balcony view and verandah views impossible to beat. Was served a piña colada with bad milk and was I'll for several days though. Still I would go back.

“Breathtaking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2011

From the moment we arrived on the train at this magical place, we were swept away by the beauty of this canyon. The hotel representative was waiting for us as the train arrived, and we hopped on a bus which took us straight to the hotel. Our bags followed a few minutes later.

This hotel is lovely, perched on the edge of the canyon rim. Check-in was a bit disorganized, but we were ushered into our room, and invited by the hotel manager to take a hike over to see some indian homes, which were located on a canyon ledge.

Back at the hotel we were treated to a complimentary margarita, and evening entertainment, which was quite good. We particularly liked sitting around the fire, listening to music, nibbling on popcorn and sipping on margaritas. Now this is the way to travel!

If there was one disappointment, guess I would have to say the food was good, but not great. You go there for the canyon, not the food. So while the food was good, just don't expect gourmet fare.

At night, the stars are brilliant, there are so many, it almost looked like snow. And no one told us that the wind makes the most amazing moaning noise when it is quiet at night. It is positively ghostly and mournful in tone, and it is louder than you would think. Still, I had to sleep with the door open, so I could smell the clean air, and listen to the night sounds in the canyon. (I'd go back in a minutes.)

Breakfast was also a bit haphazard. We had to leave early, a fact that was communicated to the hotel, but guess they forgot, as the kitchen wasn't open as we were preparing to leave. Thankfully, our guide was patient, and agreed to wait as the kitchen, who had just arrived, prepared a breakfast for us.

As Americans, we don't consider 8 a.m. to be that early, but it must be different in Mexico, because when we tried to check out no one was available. We were literally driving out of the property when the manager came driving up and made us turn around to complete a "formal" check out procedure -- which could have easily been charged to our credit card . . .

Oh well, those were small incidents that were quickly forgetten on a spectacular trip. The scenery was breathtaking and the hotel was quite clean and nice.

I would definitely recommend.
