“Stunning views of Copper Canyon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2011

This hotel is literally right on the top of a canyon cliff, and our room had the most stunning view I have ever experienced from a hotel bedroom window. Very comfortable hotel with good service, and the further entertainment of many humming birds on the patio. A good location for exploring the canyon rim and also the bottom, although the scale is such that this should not be attempted unless adquate time is available. Nerby there is a ski lift recently opened connecting various rocky outcrops, and zip lines were in the process of being installed, which should make life more exciting for those inclined.

“A View to Die For”

If you are going to the Copper Canyon this is the only place to stay. It is built on the edge of the canyon and every room has a balcony overlooking the Canyon with a stunning view.
The rooms are basic but adequate, the food is to a good standard and the service is excellent. If yo are fit try to get a room number in excess of 69. These are on the top floor and afford the best view and do not have the noise of people walking past your room.

“Good food, ok rooms, no activities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2010

I was confused about this hotel since TripAdvisor has two different hotels listed, but it is the same one - hotel Posada Barrancas Mirador. Basically, when you are on the train, you can get off in Divisadero station and choose from many hotel options, or go to the next station - Posada Barrancas - and choose from 2 or 3 hotels. All look like chain hotels and this one is definitely the biggest of them.

There are tons of rooms and the place feels like Disneyland. It is definitely a good option for families. I expected a hiker paradise, and it was none of that. I even asked a receptionist for a map of hikes around the hotel and was told that did not exist. There is one marked trail to a house of Tarahumara tribesmen, but the trail is about 1/4 of a mile long! We looked for own hikes and went on some trails that were quite dirty. Some people went on offered Hummer trips, which we did not find appealing being tree-huggers.

I am glad we stayed only 1 night - there is nothing else to do besides staring out of the balcony.

The food was good though, surprisingly so for such a large place where the same food is served for everyone at certain times. But we discovered it is repeated every day pretty much - so not a good idea to stay more than 1 night!

“Don't expect 5 star but you can't beat the service.”

We were booked to stay 2 nights as a stop-over on our Chepe Train trip. However, my daughter developed an ear infections that was vary painful at altitue so we had to cut our stay short. As this was all prepaid (meals at this hotel were included with our package) I wasn't optimistic that they would accommodate our change request... but they did. Theyhappily made the arrangements for us to catch the train a day earlier and gave us accommodations at another of their hotels. I amn so very grateful for their friendly helpful service.
As for the hotel, it is just like the photos show. Be sure to make the effort to get up to see the sunset. And you will see more stars at night here than almost anywhere on the planet.
The food was very good - menu fixe (no options, just what they're serving). I had some of the best key lime pie of my life here.
The beds are similar to other Mexican beds - very firm. The entire atmosphere is one of relaxation and taking in the beauty.
If you have the opportunity to buy any of the local products, I recommend you do. The prices (from the local people) can't be beat.

“Unbelievable views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2009

We stayed here as part of the Copper Canyon tour and we've never stayed in a hotel with such views. All rooms have balconies overlooking the Canyon and no words could do justice to the sense of openess and tranquility that the view gave.

The rooms were great and the shower was fantastic.

In the restuarant and bar area there was a large open fire which was just as well because it got pretty chilly in the evening.

My one little complaint was that there was no choice on the menu for lunch and dinner and being a vegetarian I had to skip the main course for dinner which was chicken. I did however have two portions of the starter so that was fine.

The hotel did a number of tours and I went on the horse riding one which £10 for two hours. Greart value and well worth doing

An unbelievable experience
