“Great Spot!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Stayed here for a wedding that was taking place in Beaver Creek. The hotel was great, the beds were super comfy and very clean! The continental breakfast was a bit chaotic in the morning, since it was a small area and LOTS of people up early to get on the slopes! But overall a great place to say! Beautiful fireplace/lounge area in the lobby which we enjoyed.

Room Tip: The king bed is amazing!!!

“A decent place with great breakfast before skiing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

I have stayed on the mountain before in Beaver Creek so that I can ski directly to my room in various hotels, so I was a bit hesitant when we chose to stay at the Comfort Inn at first. But, after spending 4 days and nights I have changed my mind. The rooms are well kept featuring flat screen tv's, comfortable beds and many pillows. The only downside is the air conditioning is not thermostat controlled so we found it to get too hot or too cold sometimes. An outdoor pool and hotub also helped us unwind after days of skiing.
The best part of this hotel was definitely the continental breakfast included. This meal saved us from the somewhat overpriced restaurants in Beaver Creek and Avon. Beaver creek is a 5-10min bus ride away and during peak times the buses come every 15minutes. Vail is not too far away either. So overall, if one is looking for a place that is economical, yet well kept the Comfort Inn is a great option.

Room Tip: Freeway side is a bit noisy

“Good value for ski trip in Beaver Creek”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

All in all, this is a comfortable and good value hotel if you are skiing in the Beaver Creek resort. We stayed from New Year's Eve for 12 nights and the cost averaged at about $100 per night plus taxes. The daily $5.75 "resort tax" seems a bit cheeky as Avon isn't really a resort - but that's not the hotel's fault.

We had a king sized room on the 4th floor. The room was big with good storage facilities, tv, alarm clock and coffee maker. The bed was very comfortable. Plenty of hanging and other storage. It was let down by the tiny bathroom. There is a half size bath, fixed shower head and toilet - and no room to turn around!

The room was cleaned every day to a good standard. Plenty of clean towels provided. The only minor niggle being that our coffee wasn't always replenished.

Despite the bed being comfortable, we did struggle a bit to sleep as the air was very dry despite us turning off the air con. It may be worth renting a humidifier.

Information in the room was out of date. Staff were very helpful with queries and the maintenance guy was very quick in dealing with a problem we had with the hot water.

Breakfast is served in the lobby area. You help yourself to a good selection of yoghurts, pastries, waffles etc. At busy times, this can be manic and it can be difficult to get a table. This area seems to be used as an afterthought as it is the main thoroughfare from reception to the rooms. The food and facilities are on one side of the walkway, the tables are on the other. You try navigating this with a suitcase whilst the hoards queue for toast!

I didn't like the hotel's heavy use of disposable plates, cups and cutlery - everything was thrown away after use. Again, I suspect that the hotel was never set up to provide a full breakfast service and therefore probably doesn't have a kitchen / washing up facilities. For a resort that prides itself on being eco-friendly, such massive use of plastic materials is disappointing.

One big disappointment was the pool, which was not available whilst we stayed. It is much smaller than it looks in the photo. The hot tub was also out of action a few times, but is very small and would only take 4 people comfortably. It's also only in the sun until about 1pm and then it's probably far too cold to use. On a ski trip, you often really want a hot bath or a good tub and this hotel probably doesn't deliver on that.

Free wifi is available throughout the hotel. The public areas are very clean and well maintained. Coffee is available all day. We also noticed that we got less electric shocks here than at other hotels we've stayed at in the area!

The laundry facilities were appreciated but one machine was out of use throughout our stay.

There is no ski locker at this hotel and you need to keep your gear in your room. They provide some hooks by your room door for wet clothes but you would need to do your best with boots / skis / boards. This could make the carpet very wet.

If you are skiing, this hotel is about as far as you can get from the Riverfront Gondola. It is about a 10 minute walk (maybe 15 in ski boots with your gear) but the hotel is well served by a free shuttle bus which will take you to Avon Station (where it is a short walk to the Gondola) or to Beaver Creek village. Make sure you get a timetable for the buses as the routes change during the day.

Avon is a cool, friendly little town with good bars and restaurants. The free bus shuttle will also take you into Beaver Creek village from early morning. The last bus from the village for Avon leaves at 9.40pm. Personally, I don't see the point of incurring the expense of staying in the village when it is much more affordable to stay in Avon.

If you are looking for a good value, comfortable, no frills hotel then I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Comfort. If you want ski valet, great pool / hot tubs, on site restaurant and a bit more "glamour", then stay at the Westin - but you will pay at least another $200 per night.

Room Tip: We had room 430 which had a mountain view, which was nice but we only saw it fleetingly in the morni...

“Comfort Inn not so comfortable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

Recently stayed here on a snowless trip to Vail. Hotel is across street from large Sheraton and probably half the cost. 10 minutes away from slopes of Beaver Creek and 15 minutes away from Vail. It was an easy drive to both resorts. The location is the best part of the hotel. Also the breakfast in the morning was very good. From cereal, to make your own waffles, to some heated mystery eggs and sauage there was plenty to choose from. The major problem with the hotel was the beds. They were so uncomfortable that both my son and I did not have one good night's sleep the three nights we stayed there. I guess it is true you get what you pay for. If you do decide to save money and stay there, make sure to go to Nona's yogurt across the street.

“Unacceptable”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

After the condescending advice on how to use a door knob by the desk lady, I went to my room. In order to get the door open, I had to slam against the door to get it to open. I walk into the room and find the previous occupants trash, breakfast remnants, dirty towels, and used soap (gross!) However the beds were made (who knows if the sheets were changed. I'm guessing not.) so apparently housekeeping had already "cleaned" the room. internet keeps resetting, I'm having better luck pirating the internet from next door.
