“Bungalow #2”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

We had a heavenly experience at Casa Del Corazon on Soliman Bay. I can't wait to return. Haiti and Jose were wonderful and the location was awesome. We had great dinners cooked in our kitchen by Daveed, he can be found on the locogringo site. We also had terrific Spanish lessons with Isabel from Spanish 2 go.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms.

“truly delightful vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

My husband, 5 year old daughter and I spent two weeks of pure bliss at Casa del Corazon from the 8th to the 21st December 2011. Having been to Mexico a couple of times quite recently, we knew we did not want a repeat of the all-inclusive resort mass experience for the first few weeks of our trip. We wanted somewhere to truly soak in the sun, the atmosphere and enjoy some much needed solitude. We stayed in Casita 2, which sits on the beach, in a beautiful tropical garden. The one bedroom and comfortable living area of our casita proved perfect for our little family. The kitchen is well stocked, the decoration around the property is lovely. There wasn't a thing that we could possibly want for, but if we did, the lovely Geidi was on property to attend to any needs, even when it was getting Jose to remove a pesky scorpion in our bathroom. Rosa and Andy, the owners are lovely. Within about twenty minutes of meeting them, they were taking their dogs, various dogs from other properties, and an assortment of children including ours, around the bay on a walk. Upon finding out that the next stop on our trip was her home town Mexico City, Rosa came by with a treasure trove of recommendations for exploring the city. The entire Soliman Bay area is a secluded, safe and quiet community. There were days in the beginning of our stay that our only interaction all day was with the myriad of dogs to be found roaming the beach and hanging around for a cuddle. There are many dogs that are known to everyone on the bay, and they wander about getting to know all the guests. The dogs, were a major reason we chose this property as my daughter adores animals. By the end of our trip, Mimi and Kuka were not only our constant companions, they were completely adored and spoiled by us. I still miss them both ;).
My husband loved snorkeling on the bay. There are kayaks and snorkels available. He saw great sea life, from barracuda and manta rays, to everything in between. My daughter and I loved the white sandy beach and splashing about in the still still water. Chasing crabs was a highlight. Lluvia, the property daschund doyenne is a pro at digging for crabs in the sand. Truly a lovely family vacation, one we hope to repeat again soon.
We had the most delicious holiday, and would go back in a minute!

“quiet, private and comfortable”

In Soliman Bay for our honeymoon. My wife loved this place! We were only in Mexico for 5 days and 4 nights, staying at Casa Corazon was just what the Dr. ordered.Quiet, private and comfort is all we asked for...and we got it in spades. Perhaps one of the most beautiful beaches...soft sand...sun...and fun. Wonderful bay to swim, kayak and snorkel. Glad we found Casa Corazon!

“Casa Del Corazon is always the best vacation I've ever had”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2011

My wife and I traveled to the Yucatan this past May and stayed at Casa Del Corazon for the third time. We stayed in Villa #1 as usual. There are two other villas, each one unique, each sleeping about 6, and each set amongst sea grape and palm trees, providing adequate shade and privacy. Villa #1 is the closest to the beach. You take about 5 steps from the door and you are on the sand, then about 10 steps to the water's edge. Each villa is equipped with a full kitchen, dining room, liviing room, and bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs and downstairs. We really lucked out this time, as there were no other guests in the other villas. There's also a pool next to Villa's 2 and 3. Geite and Jose, the caretakers, clean everyday and are always around for any need. Soliman Bay is about an hour and a half south of Cancun, so you will need a car to get there and especially for getting to the grocery store in Tulum or any sightseeing. Soliman Bay is quiet, so if you are looking for a resort atmosphere with activities, this is not the place. Romantic - absolutely. The bay itself close in is excellent for snorkeling and kayaks will get you out to the reef for even better snorkeling. Rosa and Andy own these villas, and are often around to check and see if everything is going well. There's internet access on the property, so I had no trouble downloading a Kindle book on my Blackberry while in a hammock under a palapa on the beach. For more detail, refer to my review from 2007. There is a Spanish proverb that sums up my vacation at Casa Del Corazon:

How wonderful it is to do nothing, and then rest afterwards.

“close to paradise, but not quite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 April 2008

casa corazon is a little slice of paradise located in quiet soliman bay. what makes it outstanding are the grounds, which are covered with luch vegetation, and the location directly on a beautiful white sand beach. the bay is quite beautiful as well, and quiet. there are 3 or 4 casitas, and we have stayed 2 years in a row at #2, which is on the beach, has an upstairs master bedroom and bathroom, and downstairs, queen bed, bathroom, dining room, kitchen. rosa and andy, the owners, are super cool and helpful, and the maid heidi is nice but shy. there are 4 or 5 OK kayaks to kayak out to the reef, a 15 minute semi-vigorous endeavor, where it is pretty nice snorkeling. there are wonderful palapas with hammocks and chair swings which my entire family enjoyed. last on the positive, the dogs that live here and at the surrounding properties are awesome. my kids, my wife and i all love dogs and these dogs are great, fun and affectionate, and really one of the highlights is coming back and seeing chapo, peckas, mimi, and bali and playing fetch with coconuts in the water.

the negative, and a big negative, is the overabundance of sea grass in the bay. while there is white sand on the beach, there are piles of sea grass built up on the edge of the water, and then the floor of the bay is coated by an uninterrupted layer of sea grass. this is not pleasant at all. you cannot run and jump into the water, because this seagrass hurts your feet and makes the bay quite shallow and unfriendly for the first 100+ feet . this really detracts from the overall, but we returned because it is so secluded, beautiful, nice casitas, and the dogs.

  • Liked — beach, palapas, dogs
  • Disliked — awful sea grass
