“Loved everything about it.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

You should stay here! It's a wonderful, relaxing hideaway - close enough to the beach and ruins yet pleasantly far enough away from all things hectic! Lou & Moe provide an amazing experience; they've really thought of everything.

We traveled to Cancun after just 2 nights of LSM, and our only regret on the trip is that we wish that we had spent more time at LSM. All in all, we appreciated Tulum and the surrounding areas more than Cancun...

Room Tip: All of the rooms are just lovely.

We look forward to your 3d stay with us. That is a great complement for us that you want to return AGAIN. And yes, we are proud of our involvement in the MG community. We love our life here at La Selva Mariposa.

“Jungle Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Excellent place to stay if you want quiet and relaxation. The water features Lou has built are so calming and cooling in the middle of the jungle. The open air bathroom and shower was so fun--almost like camping in the jungle but with all the amenities. I wish we had spent a week instead of a few days. Mari and Lou make a mean breakfast and have such fresh fruit--I ate a sour orange right off the tree. :) Thank you so much to Mari and Lou for a wonderful time. I would stay again in a heartbeat.

Yes, your stay with us was way too short. Thanks for the kind words and for mentioning so many details about your stay with us. Lou's creative mind is always designing the next waterfall, and who knows it may be associated with the cenote, 30 meters deep, that we are excavating at this moment. Lou even went down on a rope to take a look the other day.

“Second stay at this delightful B&B”

My sweetie and I were here for 5 nights in January 2011 and decided to return for 7 nights in January 2012. Lou and Mari are the most accomodating hosts ever - they truly have thought of everything! The B&B rooms are beautiful and clean. The B&B property is a magical experience with many species of birds and butterflies. The breakfasts are a stunning culinary delight we looked forward to each morning. Lou and Mari had many recommendations for things to do and places to eat dinner in the area as well. But some days we just relaxed at "home" - and had dinner across the street! Their life is in Macario Gomez, Mexico and they are proud of that and it reflects in their involvement with the community. If you've never been to Mexico, I highly recommend this as a wonderful introduction!

“Lovely jungle retreat”

La Selva Mariposa was the ideal setting for our first trip to Mexico. The owners were well prepared to answer all of our questions and more than met our needs. Example: the page in their guide book labeled Mexican driving 101 provided many good tips for Americans driving in Mexico. Their guidebooks provided useful information on the myriad of activities and attractions in the area. The generous hosts encouraged us to take the guidebooks with us each day so we didn't have to depend on our memory. This was also useful if we had an unscheduled change of plans.

The location of LSM in the small quiet Yucatan village of Marcario Gomez is conveniently placed between well know tourist attractions such as the Mayan ruins, the colonial city of Valladolid and the Caribbean beaches.

A delicious and filling breakfast was cooked for us each day. The rooms were large, clean and unique. We especially liked the outdoor shower and you will not be disappointed if you request a room with this feature. The owners provided abundant filtered water in the rooms in lovely pottery dispensers. They also considerately provided water bottles to carry water during the day. Our bed was comfortable and the room was attractive. Each evening at the end of our activities we felt as if we were truly coming back to a home away from home.

Lou and Mo have given much consideration to ecological and "green" features in the architecture, construction and operation of the bed and breakfast. Be sure to take their tour of the property.

Overall LSM provided an enjoyable and unforgettable experience.

Thanks for the review, and for mentioning that we are conveniently located between Mayan ruins, a colonial city and the beaches. Taking the 2 side/by side rooms #2 and #3 worked well for your family: parents and 2 adult sisters. Having you and your family here felt like being with family to us as well.

“Over the Top”

What an outstanding experience!. Although we expected a jungle environment, La Selva Mariposa was over the top. With the waterfall outside our door and the animal noises in the morning we were relaxed from the moment we arrived. Starting the day with Moe and Lou's wonderful breakfasts and chatting with their interesting guests was a great way to learn about happenings in the Yucatan. We were very surprised to be so close to Tulum, yet out of town and on the way to so many other interesting things to do. Even the shopping and local restaurant in Macario Gomez were treats .... inexpensive and quality. This is the ideal get away; away from the crowd and in the heart of the Yucatan. We thank Moe and Lou for being such hospitable inn keepers, their attention to detail and their efforts to educate us about the area. I just hope they don’t become so busy that others can’t enjoy their fantastic B&B. Five stars for La Selva Mariposa.

Room Tip: We stayed in #1, but they all were just as good.

Can't thank you enough for the outstanding review. I liked how you said the charm was the LOCATION. Now that we have a fun Mexican restaurant in Macario Gomez, guests like yourselves can enjoy an inexpensive and authentic meal just steps from LSM.
