“Would Visit Again”

My plane had problems so I missed a night at Hamaca Loca and really would have liked to spend another day there since it was a very pleasant experience. Danila was most helpful answering questions and giving directions prior to the trip.

Stayed in El Pirata, which had somewhat of a view of the water and a nice sitting area outside that was shaded by the palms so it was a nice place to sit and read. Yes, Tortuga is the better cabana for being RIGHT on the beach and larger in size. The cabana was clean and comfortable.

Highly recommend staying here. Yes, the cabanas are somewhat rustic but if you're looking for a nice place to stay and get away from it all, this area of Tulum is perfect.

“Great location, nice cabanas, smily and helpful manager, clean and romantic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2011

Stayed with family (five) at Hamaca Loca, everything was perfect, it is a great location. The only regret: the place does not have a restaurant (close enough to others restaurant next door accessible by the beach) nor a bar (would have just enjoyed a cold one with the view towards end of day and staying by the beach. Thanks for making our stay a plesant one Claudio. Let me know if you get to know the source to get some of the Chiappas coffee selected by your friends :)

“Loved it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2011

I had to laugh when I saw a review titled "rustic". This was by far the nicest place we stayed on our trip. We were lucky enough to stumble upon it on January 2nd with a vacancy sign (we had no reservations). We paid $150/night, although the normal rate was $210 (we were told). We stayed in El Coracal. Found the location great, wonderful beach, clean room, hot showers, no bugs, etc. My 4 year old slept on the little bed, and we had plenty of room for our food (in the room's nice and clean cooler) and our peapod tent (which is our travel crib for 1 year old). There were two other families there with kids - great safe beach for kids to swim. My only issue about location is that we had to drive to find a decently priced dinner or good coffee in the morning as it is pretty far south along the strip. The plus is that it is very easy to get to the beach down in the Sian Kaa'n (sp?) which is really nice, and it wasn't that big of a deal to drive into Tulum Pueblo. We are cheapskate travellers who don't really like the party scene- if you are willing to deal with the touristy Tulum beach dinners, you can walk to dinner. Overall, loved, loved it.

“We love Hamaca Loca!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 April 2010

We have to HL twice now, both times in March and both with our now 18 year old daughter. We stayed in El Caracol both times, which has enough room for all three of us, a private sitting area outside and a lovely set back view of the ocean. It is on a quiet, beautiful part of the beach, perfect for simple living. There are some good places to eat nearby. Danilla and Claudio are welcoming, friendly, and very responsive to any needs/requests. We will be back!

“Amazing place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2010

We arrived at night at the place and we were really disappointed of the bungalow 'Pirata': No beach view, dark, no inside table, no comfort. We asked to be moved to the Tortuga, which is literally 10 M from the beach, with porch and hamac: the dream. Beach is amazing. Don't be afraid of ants, crabs, cockroaches, and other unidentified insects: this is an open bungalow! But very clean and comfy (little table inside). If you go there, book the Tortuga! They got bikes, but scooter or car would be better if you want to go around. A bit expensive though, but this is really a beautiful place.
