“Heaven on earth (very close at least)!”

We had such a wonderful stay at Coqui Coqui in Tulum! Service and location was amazing and the breakfast served in the cafe was incredible. Just want to point out a few things that future guests may want to know: there is no hotel parking but we were always able to find a spot on the street. The water in shower and faucet is ocean water and we could only take warm showers during the day, in the evening there was no water at all.
I would still go back in a heartbeat, this is the best vacation we've ever had! We stayed for a week which gave us plenty of time to explore the area on our own. I highly recommend a trip to Valladolid, the Tulum ruins and Punta Allen (make sure to rent a Jeep or the trip is almost impossible).

“in love with coqui coqui”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2011

we stayed at coqui coqui in tulum because the place was recommended by a friend. we didn't imagine the beauty and the simplicity of the place until we finally could relax and spend our first night under the most beautiful sky ever, stars were so bright and the moon so bright you could see the whole beach. Tulum has one of the most amazing beaches ever and Coqui Coqui is a very little hotel, they have only seven rooms, located in the middle of the beach. the house/hotel was built out of stones and wood, concrete floors and neutral colors. beautiful taste and, most of all, great staff. all the people working at the hotel as well as the owners were so nice and helpful, they made our holiday the best holiday ever! Coqui Coqui deserves the success it is having!

“AMAZING”

Coqui Coqui exceeded our expectations. It is the true honeymoon experience. The staff is so sweet and genuine. Our room (one of their 5 rooms) was perfect. The design of the hotel is impeccable and they manage to make everything smell divine. I highly recommend buying one of their incredible perfumes or soaps. Now back in Brooklyn it is a little heavenly reminder of our trip.

I highly recommend the Coqui Coqui. You won't be let down.

It is expensive for Tulum, but the rooms are truly heavenly. The owners have an incredible eye for design and detail. Do remember, you're in Tulum- no TV's, no phones, no power at most hotels after midnight (Coqui does have power but lighting all of the candles in the room is much more romantic!!)

“Coqui Coqui - Jokey Jokey”

We stayed here for the holidays lured in by the lush photos of well appointed rooms. The only thing well appointed was the location - it has a great beach. The rooms are woefully under-appointed with a total of 4 hangers and 1 bench for all of our belongings. There was no place to put any of our belongings except on the floor - including in the bathroom. There was no hot water for 2 days and the lighting was dim, at best - even during mid day. While we will definitely not come back or recommend this place - their staff was incredible. Their ever thoughtful manager Francesca provided free massages and upgraded room in compensation for the lack of hot water. Unfortunately even a thoughtful staff is not enough to make up for negligent owners.

Their young chef, however, is very talented and worth a visit to the restaurant for his food.
