““My favorite hotel””
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

We stayed 2 nights at the COQUI COQUI in Tulum. The staff I give 5 stars to and would give more if I could. They were all amazing. I loved the bed and the bedding. This is by far my favorite hotel. I stayed at Be Tulum which is a great hotel too, last year , but we prefer this place, less expensive and much more charming. Really nothing bad to say about that hotel, but with this hotel customer service is really what stood out. They were so good to us. Thank you!

“beautiful location”

I really liked this place. The room was very attractive with a nice view of the ocean. Very nice location on an amazing beach, but really too far to walk to Tulum town, take a cab from the hotel to the downtown area.

“Avoid it.....”

The staff is very attentive, as are all native people from the Yucatan peninsula. The management however is mediocre and stuck up. For the money, you can get many better pleces in Tulum.

“Heaven is a place called Coqui Coqui...”

I'm writing this the breakfast area of my favorite hotel in tulum. I'm about to leave to the airport and I can't speak highly enough of Coqui Coqui and their wonderful staff. Staying here is an experience that requires sacrifice, I read the last review that someone had left and it sounds as if they would have been more suited in the Marriott Cancun. Coqui Coqui is a bare bones mental luxury that sits on arguably one of the nicest beaches in the world. There are things that become unimportant when staying here and all the quirks that this place has only adds to the charm of it! I've already booked a ticket to return in August for a week and if I had my way would never leave!...

“A big sham”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2011

What a disappointment. We could see right away that this was a cheap place with hardly any amenities that had been carefully blogged about and styled but was essentially glorified camping. That would have been fine if the prices weren't consistent with better hotels, but instead it was grossly overpriced for what it was. The stylish shower curtain was all form and no function, water splashed everywhere from the rain shower head and leaked all over the bathroom and flowed into the bedroom whenever we showered. And the showers are seawater! Not acceptable for the price. The bed was uneven with protruding springs. There was nowhere else to sit other than the bed in the room. 4 hangers and dirty robes. no clothing storage. No veranda and one fan, the room was poorly designed for air circulation. The owner was away maybe that's why the staff seemed to be cutting corners and doing odd things like quoting higher prices for perfume products than what they were listed for. They were sweet and willing to help but they didn't care about the place much and were treating the operation like it was a joke. And for the price there is no breakfast included which is wrong. It is in a nice spot on the beach and we saw a beautiful moon and had some good guacamole. But we moved to a better hotel down the beach with a private pool, included breakfast, a huge and beautiful, stylish room and veranda, lots of little sitting nooks both indoor and outdoor, a lovely bathroom with non-seawater so that we could wash the sea off, imagine that, and full amenities and paid $60 less per night than at coqui coqui. We feel ripped off and intend to spread the word. Don't waste your money here.

I am so sorry to hear that your stay at Coqui Coqui was a disappointment and did not meet your expectations. I can assure you that we take complaints very seriously and are working to remedy the situation so that this does not happen in the future.

We have recently added dressers to all of our rooms so that future guests do not experience the same frustration as you did!

As a small hotel with only 7 rooms, we do not have the amenities that some larger hotels have such as a pool or in room wifi, however, Coqui Coqui's elegance and simplicity is what truly sets it apart from other hotels.

At Coqui Coqui, our team of staff is dedicated to making sure that our guests have a wonderful experience in Tulum filled with personal touches, like the gift received at check in from our Perfumery in Valladolid of handcrafted perfumes, lotions, and bath oils for guests to enjoy during their stay.

The owners and staff of Coqui Coqui have taken your complaints seriously and are working to assure this situation does not happen again in the future!
