“Great experience”

Rancho traquilo was a great place to kick back and get away from the hustle and bustle from everyday life. It also was a very clean and friendly place that made me feel very comfortable.
The rooms and staff were very accomidateing. The night life in tulum is a 10 min walk down the strip if you choose. The common area at Rancho Traquilo is available to anyone. Its a great place to hang out and meet people. (lights are out around 11 for the comfort of the guests) complimentary Pancake breakfast in the mornnig is a great way to start your day. The owner is very freindly and knowlegable about the area and has great ideas for excursions thoughout your day. Rancho traquilo has been one of the best experiences i have had traveling. I definately recomend this place for an all around experience.

Room Tip: Personaly i would choose the private rooms because the have there own bathrooms and air conditioning

“Rancho Tranquillo – No Thanks”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Attention the place is not on the sea! Even if it seems a green place directly on the sea it’s a fake garden directly on the main street of Tulum! To go to the marvelous Caribbean beaches you need a car not possible by foot. This is the main regret in choice Rancho Tranquillo, we thought that our stay in Tulum would have been at directly contact with the nature. Furthermore chamber are normal but the real bad thing is the rest room/kitchen dirt and old, the breakfast is included but a very grumpy lady cook pancakes in oleaginous and burnt pan. Really disgusting, also thinking to the fact that all guests have to clean their used dishes (with cold water), zero neatness. I would not suggest this place also thinking that at the same price you can take a cabanas on the beach (much better!).

“Don't let the bedbugs bite...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

Was told they'd hold a room with 3 beds w/bath while I drove over from Playa del Carmen in the morning. They didn't. Took the available cement box with thatched roof that looked like a Mexican jail cell. Yes garden was nice. Connected with tour guide for last minute snorkeling, also nice. I figured I wasn't visiting Mexico to look for hotels and decided to take the room for the night. We were only sleeping there after all. I was wrong. Bedbugs in the mattress fed on me while listening to traffic ailing down the major thoroughfare along with roosters that thought 2 AM was sunrise and feral cats with fleas that knew no better time for action made this a place to AVOID. Oh yes, breakfast was 3 pancakes. You can do better in Tulum I later found out. This was all for approx $40. Such a deal.

“Rips you off in every way possible.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

5 pesos for a cup of water. 20 pesos to leave your bag in a corner. Giant rip off for a crappy location. Look elsewhere and support hostels who do honest business.
