We checked into the Master Suite for a brief 3 day weekend in January, and it was just wonderful. The Mezzanine is a little bit quirky, a true Boutique Hotel, just a few rooms, a great restaurant and a wonderful location. Our room was beautifully decorated and a good size, with a wonderful ocean view. The main grounds of the property were lovely, a cute pool (mostly for decoration) and areas to lounge both at the hotel level and, a few steps down, on the superb beach. You have to put up with having the toilet and shower in the room, so I just went out on the terrace while my partner was busy there. It would be nice to have the bath partitioned off in a suite.
The restaurant was fantastic and probably the best part of the hotel! Breakfast was delicious, and we loved the thick banana pancakes and the open face omelet with sundried tomatoes. The Thai food for lunch and dinner was the best we've had in Mexico (we live in Mexico)...very authentic. Other options are available for lunch, like hamburgers and fish tacos. Unfortunately while we were there the restaurant closed down shortly after 10pm, so you were out of luck to sit out and enjoy drinks at night.
This hotel is remote, off a beautiful park area, so there the water is not drinkable, and the Internet service is sketchy. There are no TVs, and not much electricity (they don't allow hair dryers) so just lay back and relax and soak up the tranquility.
We saw the basic rooms and as they are under the hotel with very small windows, kind of dark, they didn't seem inviting, but they are much cheaper, nicely decorated, and you still have the run of the hotel. It's a good bargain option but if you can afford it at least get an Ocean view room.
