“The only place you should stay is at Suenos”

What an amazing hotel. The owners built this hotel with love and care; you can see this in the details. No detail was too small. The art and details abound inside and out. I was constantly finding a beautiful artfully done treasure on the walls and within the gardens of the hotel. It is a very clean hotel and I felt very safe and cared for. The staff was thoughtful, helpful, very kind and bilingual so I never had a problem with miscommunication. They were helpful with getting me any tour or attraction information that I needed.

I started my first day at the hotel with a relaxing massage then I enjoyed an incredibly delicious and high quality breakfast that consisted of fresh fruit, freshly made juices, coffee and delicious Mexican breads and pastries. They offer yoga onsite every morning. Tulum is a very cool town that you must see on foot or on bike. The hotel has bikes to lend and if you cannot find one at the hotel there are many places within the town in which you can rent a bike or a motor scooter. In my opinion, this is The hotel to stay at when visiting Tulum.

Room Tip: Every room is unique and beautiful.

“Suenos Tulum IS a dream!”

Suenos Tulum was everything we had hoped for in a romantic, restful get-away. Our room overlooked the beach and the ocean, with a gorgeous view from our balcony and a very short walk to the beach. The restaurant cooks only for guests and the food is delicious, prepared to order, presented beautifully, and served by the absolute nicest of guys - Mateo - who takes such care with everything he does. Being "foodies" we were compelled to try several other of the local restaurants, but really didn't find anything that compared with the food here.

The room was beautiful, bed very comfortable, and the bathroom well-stocked with organic soaps, shampoos and lotions. We left our balcony door open at night and were lulled by the sounds of the waves.

Suenos Tulum is near the end of the beach road, an easy bike ride to the entrance of the Sian Ka'an preserve. The road is very quiet compared to closer to town where there is more "action." It was easy to walk or bike to other restaurants/bars up the road if we wished to do so.

The proprietors were lovely, amazing people who have put their hearts into creating Suenos Tulum. Everything has been constructed by hand using Mayan sensibilities and techniques, including making the paint colors from natural sources such as plants and insects. While we were there they were completing the second floor of a stone building, with local stone, and each stone raised up with a pulley and placed by hand. The wooden structures are made from regional hardwoods.

In summary, I would recommend Suenos Tulum for anyone who wants something special and different, along with peace, quiet, romance, beauty, and a meaningful connection with the place and people who created it. If you want to be in the "action" it might not be for you - the restaurant serves only guests and although they make great cocktails, there is no bar. It's truly a short drive to plenty of action, though. There were several roadside restaurants with late-night scenes, along with a really fun club for dancing - the Sand Bar - that were just minutes away.

Room Tip: The second floor rooms have beautiful ocean views. First floor rooms walk right out to the beach, t...

“I want to go back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Suenos was just perfect. We booked a beach suite (ie ground level, so on the sand w/o a view) but the hotel was nearly empty and so they upgraded us to the 2nd floor, Lluvia. The sun streaming in, and the breeze coming off the ocean, not to mention the view of blue, blue sea and sky framed by tropical foliage, were just heaven. The room was verypleasant to be in during the day--the hammock, which i took to be decorative, was actually super comfy to lie in, plus there's a little private balcony where I enjoyed sitting. At night, it could feel a little lonesome--probably because there was noone else staying at the hotel, I could imagine it feeling quite different if the restaurant and other common spaces had has people--so we would take walks along the beach or take a taxi along the beach road to restaurants and bars. The beds were very comfortable. No bugs. Salty water in the shower, but we didn't find it bothersome. The people that run this place are super nice. I'd go back just for them, and their great dogs.

“Third time here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

This was our third visit to Suenos, and was our longest stay. I loved every minute of it!!! It almost feels like a second home now, as Giovanna and her parents -- Elizabeth and George, continue to create a magical destination. My husband says that being here is like living inside of a painting. It's so beautiful and serene. Everything we've come to expect in terms of quality and service have only gotten better...from yoga instruction, to food, service, and overall comfort. Mateo was always one step ahead of our needs, even delivering coffee to our room in the morning without us having to ask! It was a treat. So if you're looking for a getaway...a TRUE getaway, you just can't go wrong here. Thank you again Suenos!

Room Tip: Suenos is small, so all of the rooms are nice. We've only stayed in the suites with a king bed...
