As my mother in law rented this room for my husband and I as part of our romantic getaway, I cannot complain too much . . .
It was horrible. She paid $140 a night for a room in which the bathroom was a constant puddle for the entire six days we were there - and we approached the staff on day one to let them know that there was a pretty serious leak that was damaging their bathroom and making a mess of the place and upon check out nothing had been done other than on the last day they brought us two extra towels to soak up the water so that we did not need to use our t-shirts anymore. . .
The pool was a bright green color and all six days no one used it. We asked if they intended to clean it, and the response was. . . yes (although this never happened).
The restaurant on the property consisted of a lonely dark kitchen with one guy sleeping in it. When we asked about breakfast, (after looking at the menu) we were told that an omlette with ham was all we were able to purchase - and they were $11 each. There is a Chedraui grocery literally right across the street where ingredients could be purchased, but apparently it is not important to the staff to accommodate their guests. (needless to say, we declined breakfast and walked to the Chedraui and purchased the fruit we attempted to order)
Finally I would like to say that when we checked out and spoke to the receptionist about our stay and the indoor pool in our room, she plainly stated that - oh yea, that, well, we called and the said it would take a while, at which we replied - it would have been useful to know that you did not intend to fix it while we were here, nor offered to move us to another room (which there were more).
My advice? Don't let the pretty website fool you. . . if I returned (which I doubt), I would not pay more than $40 a night to stay here. For $140 a night my expectations were higher. Also, you can find much nicer hotels in Playa Del Carmen for $60 a night ( as we did for the last two days of our trip ) and they were very nice and clean.
