Just returned from a 6-night stay at the Paraiso and highly recommend it. As others have noted, the beach is beyond spectacular. i found the room very clean and the bed very comfortable, and i am pretty picky about this. it is not artistic like some of the cabanas down the beach—just plain, functional rooms—but it had 2 huge pluses for me— (1) air conditioning, and (2) electricity at night. The ads say 24/7 electricity, but this is a bit of a stretch. It is off from 7 am-noon. Still, that's not when you need lights and so it wasn't a problem. In contrast to some of the other reviews, I found the staff extremely friendly and helpful.
Breakfast is a fruit plate, yogurt and toast. Always the same, but delicious.
The location is kind of remote from town and the hotel 'strip' of the beach, which was a plus for us because we had rented a car and so could get wherever we wanted, and this made it very quiet at night. The beach club/restaurant was not open during our stay. Apparently the Mexican government decided it's location is part of the ruins, and so shut this down. We didn't care because again, i think it made it quieter, but they are working on reopening it.
They do do day passes for people who just want to swim and use the beach, but didn't find this to be a problem. As a hotel guest you get a free beach lounge and there were always lots open.
We were very happy about our choice to stay here.
