We stayed in cabana #6, which is an upper cabana with beautiful views of the ocean. Our patio area was perfect for reading a book, playing a game, drinking a margarita or simply enjoying the soothing sounds and sights of the ocean. The staff took excellent care of us and did not intrude in any way unless we sought their assistance, and they always kept the property spic and span. If there's a negative to be said, I have only one, and that's the fact that we hardly ever had hot water in our shower and water pressure was quite low. Staff tried to correct the situation as quickly and effeciently as possible and I know they did their best; however, with little electricity in the area, it was a challenge. Each breakfast was perfect with your choice of eggs and how you wished them prepared, bacon and sausage, french toast, pancakes (so light and fluffy), fresh fruit with granola and sour cream, coffee and tea, of course. And as many other travelers have noted, the best huevos rancheros ever! Each morning we rose fairly early (at least, for me it was early; husband always gets up at the crack of dawn no matter where he is), and walked down to the outdoor breakfast cabana, admiring the sea and thinking about what the day's activity would bring, which 9 times out of 10 included sitting on a chaise reading a book or taking a little catnap or taking a dip in that magnificent turquoise water! Our only excursion was a drive out to Coba to explore the ruins; however, we found we really wanted to get back to our heavenly little cabana, so we cut our trip short. We were not sorry. There are lots of options for dining within walking distance and if you want to walk a bit further, I recommend Zama's for great food, music and wonderful seating right there on the beach. We also recommend Matteo's (a really short walk from La Conchita) where they have free Wi-fi and really good food and drinks (that Coco Loco was delicious). Two American ex-pats are managing the restaurant and they do a great job. James was particularly friendly and always made us feel most welcomed. We also enjoyed the restaurant cat, Pixie, who was quite ingratiating and of course, quite independent. So if you're looking for a great place to stay and relax at a great price, my husband and I highly recommend Cabanas La Conchita. With all of the other places we'd like to visit in our lifetime, we sincerely hope we can make it back to Tulum, but only if we can stay in cabin #6 at Cabanas La Conchita!
Room Tip: After looking at all of the rooms and their location on the property, I definitely recommend cabana...
