“Beachside beauty”

If you want electricity 24 hours a day, and enjoy large resort all inclusive hotels look elsewhere! If however, you like being met by the owner on arrival and shown to your thatched roof cabana overlooking the sea and want to relax on the beach in a private cove this is the place for you!

We stayed in Cabana no.4 which had a sea view through the palm trees when laid in your hammock on the balcony (although you do face onto the roof of another cabana - I would choose no.6 or no.1 if we returned)

The room was basic (a bed with a mosquito net, a small table and 2 wardrobes) but large and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was a little small and not much power in the shower but that is a minor point.

A good breakfast was made to order each day. For lunch you could drive to places down the road for a change of scenery (Zigi's on a lovely stretch of beach was upmarket but very slow service), or if feeling lazy the Buenos Aires steak house next door to La Conchitas would bring you food and ice cold Coronas to your sun lounger!

For dinner, there are lots of places to eat and drink within a 5 min walk, Mateo's and Zamas in particular were very good.

Overall, a fabulous 4 days in a place where it's impossible not to relax!

Room Tip: Cabana no 1 is literally on the beach. No.6 looks onto the beach unobstructed

“Magical place with outstanding staff”

Just returned from my second visit to Tulum and both times have stayed at this lovely place. Last year I met with friends from Germany and right then and there decided we would meet again this year, this time including additional friends from Switzerland and Moscow. While options abound and in all fairness some other accommodations are also lovely, without a question, we would always return to Cabanas la Conchita. Pricing is fair, breakfast is one of the highlights, staff friendliness and support outstanding, clean, perfectly located, with easy access to restaurants, other beaches, town, yoga classes....And all this while maintaining a sense of romance, privacy, beauty, non-commercialism, avoidance of the dreaded "resort experience", and at no cost whatesoever in regard to quality. A magical experience!

“What a way to relax!”

We stayed in cabana #6, which is an upper cabana with beautiful views of the ocean. Our patio area was perfect for reading a book, playing a game, drinking a margarita or simply enjoying the soothing sounds and sights of the ocean. The staff took excellent care of us and did not intrude in any way unless we sought their assistance, and they always kept the property spic and span. If there's a negative to be said, I have only one, and that's the fact that we hardly ever had hot water in our shower and water pressure was quite low. Staff tried to correct the situation as quickly and effeciently as possible and I know they did their best; however, with little electricity in the area, it was a challenge. Each breakfast was perfect with your choice of eggs and how you wished them prepared, bacon and sausage, french toast, pancakes (so light and fluffy), fresh fruit with granola and sour cream, coffee and tea, of course. And as many other travelers have noted, the best huevos rancheros ever! Each morning we rose fairly early (at least, for me it was early; husband always gets up at the crack of dawn no matter where he is), and walked down to the outdoor breakfast cabana, admiring the sea and thinking about what the day's activity would bring, which 9 times out of 10 included sitting on a chaise reading a book or taking a little catnap or taking a dip in that magnificent turquoise water! Our only excursion was a drive out to Coba to explore the ruins; however, we found we really wanted to get back to our heavenly little cabana, so we cut our trip short. We were not sorry. There are lots of options for dining within walking distance and if you want to walk a bit further, I recommend Zama's for great food, music and wonderful seating right there on the beach. We also recommend Matteo's (a really short walk from La Conchita) where they have free Wi-fi and really good food and drinks (that Coco Loco was delicious). Two American ex-pats are managing the restaurant and they do a great job. James was particularly friendly and always made us feel most welcomed. We also enjoyed the restaurant cat, Pixie, who was quite ingratiating and of course, quite independent. So if you're looking for a great place to stay and relax at a great price, my husband and I highly recommend Cabanas La Conchita. With all of the other places we'd like to visit in our lifetime, we sincerely hope we can make it back to Tulum, but only if we can stay in cabin #6 at Cabanas La Conchita!

Room Tip: After looking at all of the rooms and their location on the property, I definitely recommend cabana...

“Perfect Retreat.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

We stayed in Cabana #1 and absolutely loved it. The room was simple, yet roomy and comfortable. My only complaint was that it did get a bit hot and stuffy in bed at night with the moquito nets drawn as you really can't feel the air from the ceiling fan through the netting. Other than that everything was exactly as promised and it was fantastic waking up everyday to an unobstructed view of the gorgeous sea. The staff here was incredibly helpful and very nice. They even set up a taxi ride back to the airport that was half the price of the shuttle service there! Breakfast everyday was fresh, filling, and delicious (they even waited for us on a day that we woke up way late.) We were there during turtle hatching season and it was pretty incredible helping to dig out the baby turtles and then send them out to sea. The beach was lovely and quiet and you are able to order food and drinks throughout the day via the hotel next door.

I can't wait to go again next year!

Room Tip: Cabana #1 is separate from the others and affords an unparalleled view and privacy.

“Really nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

We arrived in the middle of the night, and there was someone to lead us to our room. ( this was actually necessary, because there were no lights, hotel policy, no lights after 10 pm, but it is fine, we had no trouble with this!) the staff is VERY friendly and VERY helpfull. the next morning we saw how beautyfull this place is, and it really is. There are like 7 cabana's on the grounds, with really nice interieur and privacy, with two of them private, and the rest shared. But it is really nice done, we had full privacy. We stayed at cabana #6 at the back of the grounds, we had the top level, wich was really nice, we still had ocean view! The rooms are equiped with musquito nets, wich was really good. Breakfast was great, with not big but enough choice and fresh! You can lie on the beach on beds from la conchita, and if you ask they have parasols. We had a wonderfull time, but if i can say something, i would go for the cabana's wich lie closer to the ocean. The cabana's on the back of the grounds lie close to the road, wich has a tope by the front entrance of la conchita, wich means everey truck/ car has to stop and accelarate again, wich gives noise, i think the cabana's on the front wont hear this because of the sound of the ocean. And the shower gives little to no water ( but it is hot!) wich is difficult to wash you hair! But it's a lovely spot!
