“Excellent fishing at a beautiful remote spot on the ocean.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 March 2011

We went bonefishing two days and caught over 20 each day and had out shots at permit. My wife and I are avid fly fishers but have done primarily trout fishing with some salt water in the bahamas and the gulf coast of florida.

I was surprised at the size, I expected smaller but they were commensurate with what we had encountered in the Bahamas.

The lodge was very clean and on the beach making for a great location just to do nothing.

We're going back next year for a longer stay - our guide Victor was execellent.

“IF HEAVEN EXISTS, IT IS IN BOCA PAILA FISHING LODGE...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2010

This is not a RESORT,this is more than that, without any luxury, but nature 100%..you have a confortable lodge with clean basic rooms with air conditioning, in the front yard you have the Caribbean ocean where you can deep sea fishing, swimming, snorkling or only miles to walk in real fine and clean sand; in the back yard you have a sweet water lake to canoe or fly fishing...but the secret is call "PALI" she is the owner, the cook, the public relations agent..she cooks like an angel the three meals, specially the fantastic desserts....wee try to go at least 2 times a year and we enjoy it very much…

“More than i expected”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2010

I was there for a wedding anniversary celebration and flyfishing trip and everything was simply excellent! The Kindness of the service, the unparalell food, the beach and the warmth of a "family operated lodge" were more than i expected... Surprisingly awesome!. The only thing that was not right was the weather (one day of cold front in november), but of course the experienced fishing guides solved the problem... I would not say more beacause i dont want to find "everything is sold out" for my next reservation ;) ... But if youre planning a trip there simply dont miss it!

“Awesome fishing and new world record!”

Fishing this past week started off with a bang, was kinda slow during the week, and ended with another bang.

We also got some EXCELLENT snook this week – not numbers, but the size was outstanding. Other than one fish about 7lbs on Monday, and a baby on Thursday – all of the snook we caught this week were between 12 and 20 pounds. We had a total of 11 snook larger than 12 pounds, with two pushing 20 lbs! Pat lost one in the curvy river that dwarfed our largest fish – it was probably between 25-30 pounds.

We had our shots at some very large permit (20-25 lbs) on Wednesday down at San Juan, but no takers.

The big news is that Pat and I set a new WORLD RECORD on Monday. Together, fishing with Eduardo, we took FIVE Super-Grand-Slams!!! Pat got three and I got two! We are submitting the paperwork to IGFA. No one has ever done this before – the closest is TWO super-slams from the same boat, and one other angler got 3 regular slams in a day.

“A World Class morning of Flats Flyfishing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

16 Bonefish, all but one in the 3 pound class, (hooked at least 6 more), but the icing on the cake was a nice Permit (see picture) . . . my first landed . . . I had had hook-ups before, but this was my first.

All in a four hour morning session !

I know that at least one reviewer bemoans their catch, despite being 'experienced saltwater flyfishers', but I guess that's why they call it fishing and not catching . . . we were extremely fortunate, and and we will be back regularly (we all happily live in Playa del Carmen, just 90 minutes away !)

Thanks to all at Boca Paila, you comfortably lived up to your excellent reputation !
