“A good choice close to Tulum downtown”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

I stayed at this hotel after a friend had booked in here, based on reviews. The first impressions were that it was a bit odd where it was located, in between homes and opposite a showground area, and the reception was not obvious to find. However, the hotel is very cute, and has a lot of charm. I had a downstairs room which was cool and comfortable, and also quiet. It had a small courtyard with hammock, but not really usable as it was inbetween the three tall concrete walls and the sliding door. The bathroom is a sectioned off corner of the tiled room with an opening between the brush false ceiling and the mud brick style wall, with the handbasin on the outside (which was painted in beautiful artistic Mexican style). So if you have any privacy concerns regarding the bathroom use / noises, you might want to send you roommate out for a walk or use the common facilities off the courtyard. The shower is open with no screen, so after use you need to mop up the residual and push the water towards the drain, because the tiling has not been done on the correct angle so the water will not gravitate toward the drain naturally. The bed was very comfortable, there were lovely decorations in the room and the air con worked well. There are no ceiling fans, and not a lot of furniture in the room. The internet works well. There is no breakfast included, but the owners are able to accommodate some basic choices if you require.
Overall I found my stay here pleasant, and would recommend to others wanting to stay near town. For us though I think it was a little overpriced as we were there in the quiet season, and it is a long way from the beach. The cost of a taxi to the beach is 50 pesos.
The owners are nice, very friendly and fun, but we struggled with English communication at times. There was no room safe or anywhere to lock valuables. I was a bit concerned that as soon as I stepped out of my room for a moment, the owner was already cleaning the room and the door was unlocked as she moved between rooms for cleaning, which left me a bit worried about the safety of my items. I didn't lose anything, but thought this was worth mentioning for those with valuables.

“Top choice for Tulum!”

The room was amazing, spacious and very clean and I really loved the decoration.

The owners were lovely and very very helpful. You can have coffee and breakfast at the hotel's nice yard or walk to the city center which is only a few meters away!

I would definitely recommend it and I do not understand why it is not higher in the ranks!

P.S. I stayed in Tulum for 5 nights and also stayed at Posada Luna del Sur which is equally good.

Room Tip: If you don't like stairs, ask for a room at the ground floor.

“Cute little hotel in the town of Tulum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We stayed there in January 2011. It's a very clean little hotel in town (not on the beach!). Big rooms, each with a back yard with a hammock or a balcony. If breakfast is included at all, it's coffee, bread and marmalade only (which you eat while the owner makes crepes for her daughter in front of you). It's owned by a Mexican-Polish couple who lives there, so you literally are in their home. The office is their living room and the open kitchen is where they cook for themselves and receive guests. So in a way you feel like an intruder in their privacy, which i didn't like. But if you get along with the lady you'll enjoy your stay. The value is quite good for Tulum where everything is overpriced. It's also located well: most other town hotels are located on the main street where it's very noisy. This place is quiet. But again, it is far from the beach, not walking distance. One thing I didn't like: the mattress made a squeaking noise every time I turned, so I woke up at night. I don't know if it was just in our room though.

“Simple and in a convenient location”

We stayed at Lo Nuestro Petit Hotel our first night in Tulum. Since we planned on not arriving to the city until the evening, we figured we spend this night in town instead of on the beach. It was the perfect location for our first night of exploring. We were able to easily walk to the strip of restaurants and shops from the hotel. The owners, who I believe are Polish, were very kind but didn't speak english all that well. Still, they were able to communicate with us; they just asked that we speak slowly. I imagine they speak fluent spanish.

They minded their own business the first night and greeted us in the courtyard in the morning with fresh juice and breads.

The rooms are very simple with homemade furniture. There was a loud radio program being blasted across the street until at least 9 or 10 p.m. but we didn't really notice it once inside, especially with the AC running.

The place is surrounded by little taco and empanada stands so if you wanted to each cheaply, you could easily grab food there. For those wishing for a more substantial meal, there are dozens of spots with a few blocks.

If we were looking to spend much of our time in the town, we would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We stayed on the second level and you had to climb a spiral staircase to get there. The owner helped...

“Cosy Hotel”

We stayed at this hotel after a week in at all inclusive in Cancun. It is a quiet home away from home hotel with very friendly and warm owners with their little daughter and niece. The hotel is completely run by the family, hence it is safe and secure. We got great advice and directions to unique spots to see around Tulum. An easy way to the Ruins and a swim at Akumal Bay to suit our particular preferences. Not meant for the younger roudier crowd.
