“Best Christmas Ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Holy great time batman. I have never slept so close to such a beautiful serene beach in my life. The views were breathtaking and it was never crowded, did I mention I was there dec. 20th through the 24th yeah it was short but so very memorable and isn't it supposed to be crowded at Christmas? Well it wasn't I can not wait to go back to enjoy proprietor James Greenfield's sparkling Paul Newman blue eyes and scintillating sense of humor. Definitely a charming man having considerable connections to share with all who stay at Casa de las Olas. James and his incredible staff take such good care of you, I guarantee you will find yourself writing a review just like this. Something I have never been prompted to do before in my life. I am 42 and this was my best Christmas ever. Highly recommend going. Anytime

Room Tip: They are all great I saw them all.

“My own little sanctuary that I made my home , away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

I have been fortunate to experience this little sanctuary for a good long month . I was able to really get to know the staff , Antonio and Gadhi served me coconuts the whole time sometimes twice a day , and with a smile ..I wasn't really savvy with spanish , but we laughed and they made me feel comfortable and taught me new words each day ..to get me by. Mari took care of my room and kept the flowers looking fresh and the place always spic and span, ...The cliches don't do this place justice. The beach was to die for ! and it was so close ..I enjoyed hearing the waves to fall asleep to and waking up to a serene sunrise , a perfect way to start my day .I enjoyed the crystal blue ocean which is said to be really healing to your body and it definately did something to my soul as well , if I wanted some privacy I took a swim in the cenote which jim can tell you about , along with his amazing knowledge of his experiences with the local eateries that your tastebuds will love and crave for more .Jim really has a nice way about him and quite the sense of humor when giving you all his little secret spots so you dont have to waste your precious vacation ,you can get right down to business ,but one of my favorites was the SUNSET SPOT !! Getting back to Casa de las Olas .. As I watched the place fill up with other guests , I was surprised that it didn't even feel busy , which I loved because you felt you had the place to yourself ,which suited why I chose this place .Everyday I would say to myself I should see the sights and go and explore , there is so much to do ..but I opted to stay and treat myself to a few really good massages from Rudolfo and Yolanda and the best part is,is that they come right to you .. I liked how it felt luxurious but simple and that there was a consciousness for "Mother Earth" , also the location of this little tucked away sanctuary was in my opinion the best part of the block , at the end where it felt green and lush of what little jungle is left .

“Beach, Beach, Beautiful Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

A few steps off the beaten path is a perfect spot in the sun. My family and I had an amazing vacation at Casa de Olas in Tulum. The hotel is right on the beach with big, comfy rooms. We got there late and I was overwhelmed by the sound of the waves crashing. It was ethereal. Best sleep ever. And waking up to the sound of the surf, the first thing I saw was row upon row of waves rolling onto the beach. That's was the moment the rest of the world sliped away and I felt truly on vacation. It got better, I walked a few steps past swaying palms, and I was on one of the most beautiful, cleanest beaches I've ever seen. Next to a nature preserve there are are miles of soft sand to explore with a ton of romantic potential, lots of privacy. Our room was spacious and always cool with the seabreeze. The staff was friendly and accomodating. They split coconuts for a refreshing drink. And the owner, Jim, even fired up the BBQ for us one night grilling huge fresh shrimp for us, from a local fisherman. The BBQ area is sheltered and shaded with pretty sitting areas, in perfect contrast to the sunny, breezy beach. Also, there are great local restaraunts and lots of sights to see.

“Never felt so welcome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

It's not often that within 15 minutes of arriving you're being whisked off for sunset margaritas overlooking one of the world's most exquisite nature reserves, and then to for a fine meal on the local strip with the other guests.

This doesn't always happen we're told, but we have no doubt other visitors have had as special an experience as us. Jimmy, the host, has endless suggestions of what to do (including swimming in secret bathing spots in hidden cenotes), and where to eat (he's a foodie too!). But honestly, some of the best fun to be had is at Las Olas. Jimmy played host to ourselves, other guests and friends of guests one evening for a particularly memorable shrimp barbeque.

The house is beautiful, secluded, with its own patch of beach and large rooms, some of them apartments, to make yourself home in.

You could not go wrong here.

Room Tip: If you're not too bothered about self-catering go for the junior suite which is without kitchen...

“The area's best little secret hideaway”

I found myself right at home at Casa de Las Olas. From the moment we were welcomed in by the friendly owner Jimmy, who's motto is "come as a guest, leave as a guest" really makes true on that promise. The rooms were ample and the variety is great when you have your pick. We rented the entire house for a wedding and I got the room at the base and the corner of the house, which gave me a direct view of the ocean and the rising moon. I've been making plans to return since I was introduced to this jewel of a place and town. The people are beyond friendly here. The staff is also something to write home about, especially the great "cocinera" that Jimmy recommended who made mole for us because she heard we wanted to try it. David, one of the guys who tends to the house also got us a lobster from the boat who brings fresh catch daily. I can't say enough good things about this place, makes me want to move thinking about it again...NOW!

Room Tip: Room on the bottom corner, not the kitchen side, but the other corner.
