Petit Lafitte is the perfect destination for an amazing vacation for both your mind and body (to be more exact, your stomach, because the food was incredible!)! First and foremost, the staff is what makes the experience an unforgettable one. We were met with a warm smile and a tour of the premises and the theme of a genuine concern for the guests well-being continued throughout our stay. In the five days that we stayed, at least a dozen staff members knew our names, chatted with us as we came and went, and always made sure we were comfortable. We enjoyed the serene surroundings-- no loud music, or late night shows... just an ocean side bar with the best guacamole and cheviche and an open air restaurant which served breakfast just after sunrise until late in the morning and dinner well into the evening. The food was delicious and the choices for meals fit everyones liking. Our garden side bungalo was just what we needed-- provided a rustic feel with clean and comfortable decor. And a note- even the furthest bungalo is only steps from the ocean so if the actual ocean side bungalos are booked, the garden view are as good of an option. The grounds were beautifully kept and the beach front chairs and hammocks were never crowded. I would recommend Petit Lafitte again and again... and we look forward to returning "again" as well. This hotel (although I would love to keep it a secret so we will always be able to get a room) is without a doubt our favorite hotel of any place we have traveled to (and we travel quite alot). The hotel is simple, nothing fancy, but it has everything you could possibly need and is super clean. But the staff is what makes this hotel special. They are incredible. They refer to you by your name - what other hotel can say that?! They make you feel like you are their friend, which you are! We have been there twice now, and will be going back. It is a jewel among all of the huge all-inclusive horrible places that I would never stay at (I don't care if the booze is included). It is quiet, beautiful grounds, simple, warm, friendly, uncrowded, good simple food, and a wonderful, wonderful staff. WE LOVE THIS PLACE!

Petit Lafitte is perfection - small, intimate and totally unfussy, warm and friendly to its international and intergenerational group of guests, and with a lovely and uncrowded beach, grounds, delicious food, a loving staff and more than enough creature comforts to make us happy to do little more than rest and renew over the arc of each day. Playa del Carmen is a short ride away and still a lovely town (the un-Cancun), We hired a driver for a day's visit to Coba, Tulum and some still unspoiled small villages. But mostly this was all about enjoying each other and the company of our fellow guests. It's miraculous that Petit Lafitte has remained so true to itself over so many years and to understand the deep affection so many people feel toward it. My only advice is to make certain to read the descriptions of Petit carefully so you are perfectly clear about what Petit Lafitte is and what it isn't ...if you buy the concept, you will absolutely, positively be a happy camper.

I just got back from my trip yesterday, and Petit Lafitte was everything I expected and more. Like others have said, you have to know what you're expecting here. My friend and I stayed in a standard garden view room, which was perfectly located between the beach and the open air dining area where breakfast and dinner is served everyday. The room was simple and very clean, and had a lovely patio where you could sit and enjoy the view. If you're looking for luxury amenities and nightlife, this isn't for you (I'm pretty sure my friend and I were the only singles at the hotel. This wasn't an issue for us, but it was hard not to notice all the couples). If you're looking for a place to unwind and relax, this is perfect. I didn't have a single worry while I was there. The food was good, with plenty of variety. Breakfast was outstanding. If you go, definitely book a massage on the beach, it was amazing! The stretch of beach in front of the hotel is beautiful, I think the nicest in the area, and there was never an issue of finding a beach chair.
I can't say enough about the staff, who really made the place feel more like someone's home than a hotel. For the value, especially, I couldn't have imagined anything better. I hope to be back soon!
