“Beautiful resort with all the comforts of home”

My husband and I stayed at the Royal Haciendas for the first time 1/28/12-2/4/12. This is a timeshare property for those that aren't aware. We own a week at the Royal Sands in Cancun but had only visited for the day prior to this stay. We rented our 1 bedroom suite, master bedroom, kitchen/living room, directly from an owner via TUG-2. The resort is spacious but very easy to navigate. We loved the huge bedroom, bathroom, and deck with a jacuzzi. The weather was a little rainy so we spent more time in our unit than we planned so it was great to have the extra space. Check in was a breeze but we had an evening flight and came in after the rush. Everything was spotlessly clean and you constantly see staff cleaning outside. We purchased staples for breakfast to eat in our room at the onsite market. Prices are a little high but it's very convenient. There were many senior adults vacationing with their adult children and grandchildren. Some couples in the 40-50 age range. Overall, quieter than what we see in Cancun during our summer stays. Happy hour is held daily from 3-6pm at the pool bars. Drinks and beer are half price and free chips and salsa but make sure to get the menu to see what drinks are included. We ordered pizza twice in our room on rainy evenings when we didn't feel like venturing out and it was fast and hot. We ate a number of times at the pool grill and liked all the food we tried. We ate at La Palapa del Sol, largest restaurant on property, twice for dinner and lunch once for breakfast buffet. Service was great at every meal. Servers very personable. The breakfast buffet was priced well but could use a little better variety of foods. Lunch has a daily special that included salad bar, soup and desserts or you could order off the menu. This was a good value if you liked the entree special. Dinner had a themed buffet or again order off the menu. We aren't big buffet people so we ordered off the menu twice and food was good but basic. The resort offers free shuttles into Playa del Carmen but they fill up quickly so we only managed to use it once when someone cancelled. A round trip cab trip cost around $25 so we only ate out off property twice due to the cost and the weather not being great. The beach is nice and walkable in either direction. This isn't a great swimming beach but wasn't a big factor for us in January. People were saving beach palapas and lounge chairs at the pool but we still managed to find them most times without doing the saving game ourselves. Wifi is available but was really slow in our villa. We had better luck at the pool with our IPhones so that was fine with us. We did meet with a timeshare rep to see what was available but weren't pressured to do so. We did not buy and there were no hard feelings on either side. We didn't use the on resort travel services for any excursions because it was easy to use public transportation to get to whatever sites we wanted to see. I would definitely return to this resort in the future. I think our 19 & 21 y/o sons would prefer Cancun to this resort but for a quiet adult trip we loved it.

“family vacation or couples get-a-way...”

We stayed at two of the other Royal properties (2) previous times, Royal Mayan and Royal Cancun. Since we enjoyed both of these location for our family vacation we decided to but a week every other year at this property, Royal Haciendas. My wife and our (2) children (11 YO girl and 9 YO boy) once again had a fantastic time. We loved the property it is set up so adults are not being run over by kids whereas children/teens do not feel overly confided or bored. The beaches are beautiful and great for swimming, snorkeling, or just laying out. The pools are huge and have separate areas to lap swim, lounge, or water play. The grounds are extremely well kept and as with all Royal properties we have stayed at they are constantly keeping up with maintenance. We were there over New Years and they said they were at 90+% occupancy for check in but we never felt over run with other gets or waited to anything. The restaurant on property has a great selection and is priced reasonable but they also offer a shuttle to down town Play for free at different times if you want to head down for shopping of a meal. The grocery on sight serves US brands along with very well priced local brands that are comparable quality. My family highly recommends this property especially after we have done a few group tours and herd form other guests at resorts their pain points (either crowded locations, poor service, over priced value). The service of waiter and cleaning staff was extremely good and friendly. By the end of the trip many of them knew our names and often greeted us by name when walking around property.

Room Tip: directly on beach is an overrated premium, we have chosen a 3rd floor that is center back this allow...

Hotel is very nice. Plan to come back again with the kids. The rooms are very nice and the facilities are excellent. Food at the pools is good. Wish there was more mexican choices. The buffet that we ate at was good but again mexican choices are limited except on Mexican night. Happy hour drinks are a good deal but make sure you are getting a domestic. Asked for a pina colada with malibu and it was $15 when the happy hour domestic was $5. Overall a great hotel and would stay here again.

“Had a good time.”

This is our last night at RH, we head to The Royal in Cancun (real resort) tomorrow. This is the second time we have stayed at the RH both times have been good and with our families. My only con's of this resort are:
1. Nothing is open past 10:30pm. Although PDC is a $14.00 cab ride per 2 people.
2. Activites are geared toward children and/or seniors.
3. The food is very bland.

My Pro's of this resort are:
1. Excellent dive center.
2. Best Massage ever in the Spa.
3. The employees are attentive to your needs.

I am 35, this resort is perfect for families and senior citizens. For those looking for more nightlife I would suggest the Playacar resort area.....much cheaper to get to PDC even walkable and the playacar resorts are much more lively at night.
