I really want to give this place 5 stars, but I settled on 4. Pros: Wonderful and attentive staff, beautifully designed hotel, very clean place and nice deal with the beach club. Cons: like most places we found in Mexico and Belize, the beds and pillows were rather hard. They didn't have softer pillows on offer. This is subjective, but took away from the experience. Likewise, the wifi isn't very strong. Overall, we really liked this hotel. It's not far from the beach and the deal with the beach club is great.

Eat at Casa Hotel Tucan on Calle 4, just one block from the hotel on the way to the beach. My wife and I ate breakfast there 3 days in a row and had dinner and drinks on another night. Great food for a great price.

This hotel is awesome. Seriously. From the staff to the other guests everything about this hotel is inviting. It's close enough to the popular 5th Avenue but not too close so you can escape the loud noise. When we come back to Playa we will definitely be staying here. :)

Victor, Aldo & Fernando were helpful in every way. All the staff is top notch. The location is the best, 3 1/2 blocks from Wal-Mart, 2 1/2 blocks from the best hamburger & fries in Playa at Vaca Loca. A huge burger with all the fixins', mustard or mayo and a bottle of water all for less than $4 US. You better be hungry. 3 1/2 blocks from the beach and Bad Boy Beach Club with live music Thur. Fri. & Sat at 4pm. I recommend Fri with the Brent Parkin Band. When you hit the sand turn right and you are at Bad Boys. The bus station ADO to and from Cancun is just 4 blocks at Juarez and 5 calle. Bus to Tulum is 2 blocks at 20th av & 2nd calle. Everything is in walking distance from the Luna Sol. Gated at 11pm with a guard is nice but we didn't find any problems in Playa. The rates are very good and the service is excellent. Have a fantastic trip & stay at the Luna Sol, we did.

Knowing the booming development of Playa in the last years, I was affraid everything had become either lousy or corporate. Luna Sol was a magnificent surprise. Everything as described (if not even better) in their internet page. A super-friendly staff of well informed people, always available and always ready and willing to help besides of being nulti-lingual. The rooms and the whole place is in top shape, extremely clean and incredibly quiet considering they are in the middle of the city (a very convenient thing by the way). Pool is great, kitchen clean, spaciuos and perfectly equipped. I can only reccomend this hotel as AAA. By the way, the "towel sculptures" made every night by Reina, the cleaning lady, are fantastic (never in my life felt so compeled to leave a tip for the maid). Enjoy your time in Playa at the Luna Sol!!!
